CRUSADERS
CHRISTIAN
A Christian attitude is the number one value of a Jesuit Crusader student
athlete.
RESPECT
A Jesuit Crusader is respected as a special person. In turn. Respect
others, your parents, teachers, coaches, your classmates, teammates, and
friends . . . and your opponents. Respect your own body – by proper
conditioning, training, food and rest. This is accomplished by prompt
care of injuries, avoiding tobacco, drugs and alcohol.
UNDERSTANDING
Care for those around you. Be a positive influence. Encourage, praise,
and compliment others. Understand your position on the team.
Understand what is expected of you.
SPORTMANSHIP
Fair play is important!! Respect your opponents, but do not fear them.
Heed the officials. Control your tongue, control your temper, and control
yourself. Compete to win but always by the rules. Be gracious in defeat
and modest in victory.
AMBITION
Work to IMPROVE yourself, your team, and your school. See your
potential. Set goals and never sell yourself short.
DETERMINATION
DON’T QUIT!! PRACTICE! COMPETE! Stay with your team.
EXCELLENCE
GO FOR IT! In the classroom and on the field, excel, do your best.
RESPONSIBILITY
Learn to take responsibility, it’s the key to becoming an adult. Take the
initiative to always be on time. Take care of our locker room and our
equipment. Help a teammate or coach when you are needed. Lead by
example.
SUCCESS
The natural result of incorporating the CRUSADER attitude into your
life!!

JESUIT TRACK & FIELD ATTENDANCE POLICY
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:
Athletes who have unexcused absences cannot practice or compete the day that it is known by the front office.
An absence is unexcused if there is no pre-notification by 7:30 a.m. the morning of the absence.
IMPORTANCE OF PRACTICE:
Champions are made in practice!! It is vital to your development as an athlete to make every workout. It is
vital to the teams success that every member realize their responsibility to the team. Arrange your schedule
so that the designated practice times are free to do your workouts. This will take some planning and foresight
on your part. Track should be your number one priority DURING THIS PART OF THE DAY. Try to
anticipate conflicts and make arrangements ahead of time. The rewards are worth the sacrifice.
BECAUSE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PRACTICE WE HAVE ESTABLISHED A CLEAR AND
CONSISTENT PRACTICE POLICY.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: There is NO EXCUSE for missing practice without prior consent from your area coach. If you cannot attend
a practice session for any reason, you must arrange it with one of the following area coaches:

FROSH SPRINTERS/DISTANCE RUNNERS B - COACH DAVIES
DISTANCE RUNNERS A - COACH T. ROTHENBERGER
Your request will be approved or denied based on the individual situation. The same procedure must be followed
When you are going to be late for practice. Students with after school labs or study should report to practice
immediately after their after school responsibility. This will allow you to get to practice on time.
GROUP A PRACTICE EXPECTATION VS. GROUP B PRACTICE EXPECTATION
GROUP A ATHLETES MUST ATTEND PRACTICES MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY …ALL SEASON.
GROUP B ATHLETES MUST ATTEND PRACTICES MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY … THE MONTH OF MARCH…AND
MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY DURING APRIL AND MAY.
GROUP B ATHLETES ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND FRIDAY PRACTICES IN APRIL AND MAY …….BUT NOT REQUIRED.

ARRANGEMENTS.
2. A WRITTEN NOTE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO AREA COACH SO THAT
YOU WILL BE CLEARED ON THEIR ROLL SHEET.
3. IF YOU ARE ABSENT FROM SCHOOL AND MISS PRACTICE, YOUR NAME
SHOULD APPEAR AS EXCUSED ON THE DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS. IF YOUR
NAME IS NOT LISTED AS EXCUSED YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW YOUR

YOUR NAME AND THE DAYS YOU WILL BE GONE ARE GIVEN TO YOUR
AREA COACH IN WRITING.
5. IF YOU ARE INJURED REPORT TO PRACTICE EACH DAY AND CHECK IN WITH
YOUR AREA COACH. THEN SEE THE TRAINER.

JESUIT TRACK & FIELD
MULTI-ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION FORM To: Parents, Student-Athletes, and non-Jesuit coaches and activity directors
From: Tom Rothenberger Nick Davies
Track & Field Program Director Head Women’s Track Coach
Head Men’s Track Coach Jesuit High School
Jesuit High School
Philosophy: Jesuit High School believes strongly in developing the full range of each student’s gifts and
talents. With this in mind we encourage students to participate in a wide variety of activities.
This diversity of activities has challenges and limitations. We must keep in mind that the
Student is just that a “student” and these activities are part of their education.
Purpose: The student completing this form has decided that they would like to be part of the Jesuit
Track Team and that they want to be involved in another activity during this same spring
season. This form is intended to provide a means of communication between the student-
athlete, the parents, the Jesuit coaching staff and any non-Jesuit coaches or activity directors.
Communication = Key:
The goal is to provide a positive experience for the student and the key to making this
possible is for a line of communication to be established. The goal of this form is to establish
that line of communication and to anticipate conflicts and plan for them.
TO STUDENT-ATHLETES, PARENTS, NON JESUIT COACHES/ACTIVITY DIRECTORS:
Please look at the attached calendar of events and list the activities, practices etc. that the student desires to participate in
(include the times the activity begins and ends). Our expectation is that the student will attend all or a portion of track practice
or a meet each weekday and if the student-athlete is a Varsity team member they will attend any weekend meets on the
schedule. This may mean that they may have to attend a Jesuit Track practice on a day that their other activity meets. We
recognize that this creates a challenging schedule and we advise that any student completing this form consider carefully their
schedule and the commitment they are entering into when completing this form. The balancing of the student-athletes schedule
is important to ensure that they do not become overly fatigued and falter in their school work.
Jesuit Track Practice = Group A = Monday through Friday (3-5 pm) – All Season
= Group B = Monday through Friday (3-5 pm) – March, Monday through Thursday – April/May.
Jesuit Track Meets = See the Schedule attached for meet dates.
COMPLETE THIS SECTION AFTER REVIEWING THE CALENDAR
I have reviewed the Jesuit Track and Field 2017 Calendar and I am aware of the dates listed. I have also listed those dates
where the student desires to be involved in another activity during the spring season.
