“The Story of an Hour” Similarities “The Yellow Wallpaper”

● Main character has heart problems

● Everyone knew that she had these heart problems and treated her gently

● Someone died ● There was irony

within the story because the woman was excited about her new freedom and she died from the excitement.

● She was ill and was told her husband died. She was okay that he was dead. When she found out he was alive and died of too many emotions.

● Both of the women are “trapped.”

● Both women were in a society that oppressed them.
