Who Are You? Elementary? Middle School? Administrators? Who has children? Technology Nerds?

Technology—not just for research

On our campus, we have found that the more technology students use, the easier they learn.

Online resources are not just for research… the internet engages students and when students are engaged, they learn—right under our noses.

We use Learning.com for resources, and we use SKY to organize our activities and ideas into one neat place.

Science is not a Subject, but a way of life… Collect samples—all of the time.

Scientist are pack rats. We can’t help it. Connect everything with your unit—past

future and present. Model good questioning and let your

students hear you question—then, they will begin questioning.

Science Board: School-wide, we practice the Scientific Process each month. This month is Recycling.

Don’t give them the answers Think about your questioning strategies,

or as I like to say, Your answering strategies.

Answer their question with a question. Science thinkers must solve their own

problems. The person standing at the front of the room is not the expert.

Guide them to find the answers to their questions.

Simple Machines Unit We use Learning.com products to

enhance our curriculum. It has great resources for instruction, activities, interactive lessons, simulations, virtual journals and quizzes. Plus you can customize their units with your own ideas.

And, it’s all aligned with the TEKS

So this is where this Simple Machine Unit begins.

AHA! Science Aha!Science is a supplemental online

curriculum for grades 3-5, and a resource for middle school science foundational learning. It offers teachers a digital resource to engage and motivate students with science, and to build the foundation for success in later years.

Teacher Created Examples!

Learning.com’s Sky is a way to collect all of the resources for a classroom journal—directions, links to websites, templates, video, and graphics. You can put it all together with SKY. What a great tool for creating a 21st century classroom. All customized by YOU!

Start Simple1. Let’s say you want your students to go

to a website, but then you want them to answer some questions or respond. Sky is perfect for that.

2. Now, you want your students to watch a video on Teacher Tube, or School Tube.

3. Upload a document for your students to complete.

4. Have students create a spreadsheet, presentation or document and have them send it back to you—Sky!
