PRAYING FOR GLORY OF GOD

A. The church and the world need to experience the Glory and Power of all mighty God.

B. After we have accepted Christ as savior our next focus should be receiving the fullness of the Holy Spirit

C. A major key to seeking the glory of God is to have a good understanding on how you have received salvation.

D. We must always defend the fact that we are saved by grace and grace alone.

Ephesians 2:8,9 •8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:8,9 •9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

E. We must trust that all born again believers have been delivered from sin and darkness.

Colossians 1:12-14 •12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Colossians 1:12-14 •13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Colossians 1:12-14 •14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

1 Peter 1:18,19 •18 Forasmuch as ye know that

ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1 Peter 1:18,19

•19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Colossians 1:12-14 •12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Colossians 1:12-14 •13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Colossians 1:12-14 •14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

F. There are two schools of thought in the church community in regards to salvation. One group believes you can never lose your salvation no matter what you do.

1.In this group you find people doing all kinds of sins and they don’t want anymore to say anything about it, for after all they say “they are only saved by grace”

2. The other group says you can lose your salvation. This group lives in constant fear of going to hell. Most of the preaching they hear deals with legalism and the “do’s and don’ts.” In this group you find a lot of self-righteous people.

2. cont. They spend a lot of time comparing and competing against each other and others groups. They sometimes will give the impression that their church group is the best church and/ or the only “true church”.

2. cont. But when you get inside and observe these people you will find very little difference in the way they live in comparison with the other group.

“I have been on both sides of this divide. I have come to believe that the healthy balance is found somewhere in between the two extremes.”

“I believe we are saved by grace and grace alone; but I also believe that the same grace that saved us will keep us if we want to be kept.”

3. The groups that believe they can’t loose their salvation don’t see the need of seeking God. They are too busy enjoying their flesh and the world system.

4. The group that believes you can loose your salvation is so caught up in trying to be saved through works and to please man until they don’t see the necessity to seek the glory of God.

5. The healthy group knows they are saved by grace and grace alone, and they seek the glory of God.

5a.First of all because they love God

5b.Secondly because they know God desires to save others and they know this can only be done through and by the power and glory of God.

Titus 2:11-15

•11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Titus 2:11-15 •12 Teaching us that,

denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Titus 2:11-15 • 13 Looking for that blessed

hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Titus 2:11-15 • 14 Who gave himself for us,

that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Titus 2:11-15

•15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

G. A major problem is there are some people in the church who were never born again. They prayed a prayer supposedly to receive Christ as savior; but the prayer they prayed was not mixed with faith.

G. CONT. They are in the visible church fellowship, but Christ the head of the church is not in them.

H. When anyone hears the Gospel and believes it and repents of their sins and accepts Christ as savior they cannot be the same

II Corinthians 5:17 •17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!

I. As a new creature your greatest need is to be filled with the glory of God. It is simply not enough to be saved we must seek the fullness of His glory.

St. Matthew 6:33,34 •33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

St. Matthew 6:33,34 •34 Take therefore no

thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

J. We have many needs in lives; but the greatest need is the kingdom of God. Once the kingdom is released, everything else we need is soon to follow.

K. Why do we need to be filled with the Holy

Spirit?

K1.We need to be filled

with the Holy Spirit first of all because God identifies Himself as a spirit

K2. To be filled with the

spirit is to be filled with God

St. John 4:24

•24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

K3. We have been

instructed to be filled with the spirit

Ephesians 5:18 •18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

K4. We have been

instructed to walk in the spirit

Galatians 5:16

•16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

K5. We can’t live a Holy

life without the assistance of the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:12,13

•12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

Romans 8:12,13

•13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

K6. We are to allow the

Holy Spirit to lead us

Romans 8:14

•14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

K7. The Holy Spirit will

guide us into truth. Reveal future events and lead us to glorify God.

St. John 16:13,14 •13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit

of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

St. John 16:13,14

•14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

K8. The Holy Spirit will

give us Power

Acts 1:8 •8 But ye shall receive power,

after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

K9. God will give us the

Holy Spirit if we ask for Him

St. Luke 11:9-13 •9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it

shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

St. Luke 11:9-13 •10 For every one that asketh

receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

St. Luke 11:9-13 •11 If a son shall ask bread of

any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

St. Luke 11:9-13 •12 Or if he shall ask an egg,

will he offer him a scorpion?

St. Luke 11:9-13 •13 If ye then, being evil, know

how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
