Welcome to Brown!Every part o our campus communitythe aculty, staff, and
a legion o students including the Orientation Welcoming
Committee (OWC)is looking orward to greeting you andassisting you. Orientation provides a unique opportunity
or you to learn about Browns extraordinary academic and
co-curricular opportunities while meeting ellow members
o the Class o and new ranser, Visiting and Resumed
Undergraduate Education (RUE) students.
Orientation is planned with three primary goals in mind.o introduce you to Browns expectations about how to live
and learn in your new community, there are a series o
mandatory events. Tese meetings will introduce you to
the Principles o the Brown University community, which
define the context or all o our interactions, both academic
and co-curricular.o help you learn about the nature o liberal education at
Brown, you will participate in various meetings and seminars
designed to help you understand your role in crafing your
education and in advising partnerships.
o assist you in connecting with the community o your peers
and the larger campus and local communities, including thevarious offices, clubs, and centers that are here to expand your
co-curricular horizons. o this end, you are invited to a host o
open houses, orums, and the Activities Fair, as well as a
broad range o social activities.
During Orientation, look or students in Orientation Welcoming
Committee t-shirts. Tese students are here to help you in yourfirst ew days on campus. Tey are joined by a host o other
students leaders, Meiklejohn peer advisors, Residential Peer
Leaders (RPL) and many other returning students. All will be
happy to guide you and answer your questions. I we dont know
the answer, we will reer you to someone who does.

PARKING
College Hill is crisscrossed by narrow New England streets,
which are not conducive to parking large numbers o vehicles.
Many amilies ind it most convenient to unload students
belongings onto the sidewalk and to have one amily member
remain with them while another finds a parking spot.
Parking in campus lots is permitted on Saturday, August ,
and Sunday, August . While ticketing tends to be relaxed
during move-in, it is important to heed signs pertaining to
handicapped spaces and tow zones.
I handicapped parking is needed, street spaces are available
and special temporary arrangements may be possible in
Brown lots. For additional inormation, please contact

towels, pillows, storage solutions etc., are provided through a
special shop operated by Bed Bath & Beyond and located on
the mezzanine level o the Bookstore.
Te echnology center is home to all your technology needs,
offering Mac and Windows (Dell and Lenovo) computers at
exceptional academic pricing, as well as sofware at educationally
discounted prices or Brown students. Trough its online storeit also offers thousands o computer products and supplies with
specs, comparisons and reviews. Certified Dell, Apple and
Lenovo technicians are available to answer your questions and
repair students computer equipment.
