Manager Notes
Wow has the time flown...here we are in March already! Warmer weather has arrived. As you are
outside enjoying our Florida sunshine and attending to your yards, gardens and shrubs; take a look at your
home…….
Is it in need of washing? How about your lamp post... do you need to replace a burned out bulb or is
it in need of washing or painting?
Unfortunately I do not have a scheduled date for the ‘pine tree/RV & Boat Storage’ project. I have
been assured that when they are ready to begin they will give me ample notice so as we can move out the
RV’s and boats from the storage area.
A few reminders:
Overnight guests in your home need to be registered with the office. Guest forms are in
the clubhouse and at the office.
Residents are not to use the vacant lots as their ‘extra’ parking area. With a permit from
the office, registered overnight guests are allowed to park in a vacant lot.
Speeding…watch your speed please! 15 MPH is posted throughout the park.
A recent malfunction with the pool heater caused the temperature of the water not always
to heat 24/7. I was not always immediately aware every time this happened. For some unknown reason
you (the residents) did not let me know when the water was cool. A ‘guest’ of a resident did call me to let
me know the water temperature was cool…the ‘guest’ also informed me that 6 or 7 residents were at the
pool complaining among themselves about it! How embarrassing that a ‘guest’ had to call me to tell me
of the problem when residents were present and did not!
Come join us at the Office on Saturday, March 12th
for
Lake Hammock Village’s Resale Open House.
11 AM to 3 PM
Have a hot dog and maybe meet a ‘new’ resident. Buy a raffle ticket and win a 22”
TV!

March Is:
March is the third month of the year according to the Gregorian calendar, which is
used in almost all the world today. It was the first month on the early Roman
calendar and was called Martius. Later, the ancient Romans made January 1 the
beginning of the year, and March became the third month. March has always had 31
days. Its name honors Mars, the Roman god of war.
March Symbols March symbols. The flower for March is the daffodil or jonquil. The birthstones
are the bloodstone (a variety of chalcedony) and the aquamarine.
Popular beliefs There are many superstitions about March. We often hear that "March comes in
like a lion and goes out like a lamb." This means that the first day of March is
often stormy, and the last day is mild and warm. Another saying is, "April borrowed
from March three days, and they were ill." This refers to the first three days of
April, which are generally rough and blustery like March. A third saying calls the
first three days of March "blind days" because they are "unlucky." If rain falls on
these days, farmers supposedly will have poor harvests.
Some March Trivia for You:
Hares court and mate in spring. During courtship, they often jump and twist in the
air.
This behavior may explain the phrase "mad as a March hare."

Holidays in March
Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th, the feast day of
Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is a national holiday in
Ireland. It also is celebrated outside of Ireland in cities with a
large number of people of Irish descent.
Saint Patrick was not actually Irish. Historical sources report that he was born
around 373 A.D. in either Scotland near the town of Dumbarton or in Roman Britain
the Romans left Britain in 410 A.D. His real name is believed to be Maewyn Succat
he took on Patrick, or Patricus, after he became a priest.
In Ireland, St. Patrick's Day is primarily a religious holiday. People honor Saint
Patrick by attending special religious services, enjoying family and community
gatherings and wearing shamrocks.
St. Patrick's Day is primarily a secular holiday in the United States. Many people
wear green clothing, and they hold parties and march in parades. The first St.
Patrick's Day celebration in the United States was held in Boston in 1737. Today,
more than 100 cities hold parades. The parade held in New York City is the largest.
St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is here, you see.
We'll pick some shamrocks, one, two, three.
We'll count the leaves and look them over,
And maybe find a four-leafed clover.
I'll sew green buttons on my vest,
Green for St. Patrick is the best.
I'll wear a green hat, very high,
And dance a jig--at least I'll try!

Lake Wales Little Theatre
"The Miracle Worker" - Mar. 25 - Apr. 10
Immortalized onstage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, this classic
tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller. The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher
and her charge. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate, Helen is
violent, spoiled, almost sub-human and treated by her family as such. Only Annie
realizes that there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark,
tortured silence. With scenes of intense physical and emotional dynamism, Annie's
success with Helen finally comes with the utterance of a single, glorious word:
"water".
Director - Glenda Thurmond
