Common AC Problems And How To Fix Them
West Coast Chief RepairPresents
While hiring a professional technician seems like the
smartest solution to prevent further Damage.
Air conditioners have numerous parts, which means any number of problems can also emerge anytime.
Filter
A common AC problem involves the filter, which is situated in the AC's front panel.
When the filter gets clogged, other parts that rely on the filter will be unable to breath and ultimately freeze up the entire unit.
Regularly change your AC's filter so that it doesn't clog up with dirt and cause malfunction.

Condenser
If your filter is obstructed, the condenser fin will begin to clog as well, which keeps them from working correctly.
Use a specialized brush to wipe the dirt off the fins, which helps the filter operate optimally.
Insufficient freon pressure in AC
Wear and tear over time can led to freon leak. Although you can purchase a monitor to pinpoint the exact problem, you cannot address the leaking problem yourself. An EPA license is necessary to work with freon.
Make sure you have the freon pressure checked regularly by a certified technician to avoid the problem in the future.
Shorted cables
Shorted cables are another problem with most AC units.
You can determine if this is the problem when the condenser fan fails to power on after you've turned down the thermostat.
In most cases, the cables just get shaken loose. You simply have to readjust them.
Power supply, fuse, or circuit breakers
If the AC unit is not powering on, check the power supply, fuse, or circuit breakers. It may not be getting ample power from the aforementioned parts. According to technicians, this is the most common report that lands on their desks. Try not to panic when this happens and speed dial your air conditioner technician. You can save money by buying the fuse and replacing it yourself.
