The role of Golden Four Drive in the transport network Golden Four Drive is a two‐lane road adjacent to the Gold Coast Highway approximately four kilometres in length. Golden Four Drive is part of the Darren Smith Memorial Route and represents a missing link in the current Oceanway path (from the Bilinga Surf Lifesaving Club to Tugun Village).
Golden Four Drive provides local access to residential properties and businesses such as shops, restaurants and cafes. Regular bus services operate along Golden Four Drive between Coolangatta and the rest of the Gold Coast. There is a 1.5 metre wide footpath on the eastern side of Golden Four Drive and a mixture of on road bicycle lanes and Bicycle Awareness Zones (BAZ) along the whole of Golden Four Drive. There is also cycling infrastructure and bus services along the Gold Coast Highway, Coolangatta Road and Pacific Parade.
Golden Four Drive is part of the coastal cycle and pedestrian route. A key action in the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031 is to complete the coastal cycle and pedestrian route.
