August 2011 Cebu 2 You

Greetings from Cebu. It has been a wet but exciting month here. A couple of Typhoons have passed by us, Cebu has had flooding and our church has been very wet, but we survived. Praise the Lord.

New Missionary

Tonight our new missionary from Twin

Falls, Idaho will arrive to spend 3-4

months with us and evaluating his desire

to be a missionary with the possibility of

extending long term. He brings with him

teaching experience and is a drummer

which we need for our for our Praise and

Worship group. Welcome Christian

Robison.

CC Downey Team

On August 4th we will receive a summer team from CC Downey. They are currently in the Philippines in Bicol. Pray for their safety as Bicol was recently hit by a typhoon and another may be on its way.

The team will help us in many ministries culminating with a 1 day VBS for 400-500 children. We are excited to receive the team.

Preparation for a New Deck

During my furlough we were blessed to receive funds to build a deck in our church. We are busy preparing the wood with a primer and sealant so that we can begin building the deck while the team is here. We are searching for a local carpenter to do the work. Currently our pulpit and part of our chairs sit on a dirt floor and on rainy days are sitting in mud and or water.

Sponsored Children

Thanks to your generosity and compassion we are supporting 41 children in elementary school, high school and college this year. We have collected letters from them to send to their sponsors and are currently taking pictures to send with the letters. You will receive your letters soon. Thank you for your patience and for you compassion.

Feeding the 300

The feeding of the 300 which we previously announced has become the feeding of the 400 and in October will become the feeding of the 500. This takes place at the local elementary school with the permission of the Principal who would like us to feed 900+. Pray for workers and provision to sustain this great opportunity to share Jesus with so many children every week. 

Baby Dedication

On July 3rd we dedicated another baby, Rolf Erwin Pinatil was dedicated to the Lord by his parents Erwin

and Flor Pinatil. We currently have many babies in our fellowship and anticipate dedicating many more

in the months to come.

 

Kid’s Extravaganza VI

On august 13th with the help of 55 workers from the church and the CC Downey team we will do our annual 1 Day Vacation Bible School with 504 children this year. Last year we were excited to have 275. Our children’s ministries and outreaches are growing sooo fast. Pictures in the next newsletter.
