Arandjelovac
Aranđelovac is a town and a municipality
in Serbia. It lies beneath the
mountains Bukulja and Venčac, at about 255 m
above sea level, 75 km away from Belgrade. The
municipality encompasses two town and 18
village communities. Bukovička Banja Spa is
located in the town. The town is situated in the
Šumadija region with the administrative center
inKragujevac. According to the most recent, 2011
census, there are 24,580 inhabitants in the town
itself, while the whole municipality has a total of
46,079 inhabitants.
The Main Square
Bukulja This mountain is an extinct volcano, which has
been proved by presence of granite rocks, which
contains specific mineral composition. The name
of the mountain originates from the Serbian name
for beech (bukva).
Lake Garasi
10 km (6.21 mi) away from Aranđelovac is
the accumulation Lake Garaši, Aranđelovac’s
supply of water. The lake encompasses 65 ha,
its deepest point is at 22 m, it is rich in fish
and it is the town’s favorite holiday place.
Cave Risovaca
It is one of the most important archeological sites
of paleoliths in Europe.
It's been discovered around 1938, but archeological
excavations started in 1953. Fossils of cave
bears, mammoths, woolly rhinoceros, cave
lions, leopard and bison.
Orasac
First Serbian Uprising against the Turks in 1804 started in the
village of Orašac (6 km (3.73 mi) from the town). A complex
in Marićevića Jaruga in Orašac memorizes the location where the
rebellion started. February 15, the day of uprising, is celebrated
as the day the modern Serbian state is founded.
St. George′s Church knows also as Oplenac
Church and Oplenac Mausoleum, is the
Mausoleum of the Serbian and Yugoslav
Royal House of Karađorđević located on top of
the Hill Oplenac in city Topola, Serbia. The
Foundation in Oplenac is named afterKing
Peter I of Yugoslavia.
