It stands on high ground between the River Don and the Water of Buchat, commanding a view down Strathdon to the east. A Z-shaped tower house built in 1590. It has survived remarkably intact; its ground floors can be ex-plored with ease. Its last laird was a notable Jacobite.

12th Century Parish Church of St Mary’sMonymusk, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire AB51 7HJ
Monymusk has been inhabited since the Stone Age. It was connected to Christianity in the 5th century and the parish church of St Mary’s was once part of an Augustinian Priory (11th-16th century). In 1929 the church was restored to its original condition and it is now one of the finest parish churches in Scotland. The church houses the Monymusk Stone.
