Bill C-10 Toronto filmmakers say tax legislation being proposed by the federal

government could seriously curb the production industry in this city. The Senate is reviewing a bill that would allow the federal government to

cancel tax credits for films and TV shows thought to be offensive or not in the public interest.

“[The bill] will cost jobs and drive away production, it will create an atmosphere of uncertainty and unpredictability and therefore those investment dollars and projects aren’t going to come to Ontario.” said Toronto filmmaker Bruce LaBruce.

Toronto Becoming a leader in “Greening”

On April 2nd Green Screen Toronto and Planet in Focus international environmental Film and Video announced the selection of Melissa Felder as the lead consultant for establishing green best practices leading towards a bold new Certification Program that will make Toronto a leader in “greening” the film production industry.

Funding for the Green Screen Initiative is being provided by the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) through the Entertainment and Creative Cluster Partnership Fund and the newly formed coalition
