There are two types of TV magazine, Trashy (like TV easy) or a more serious publication(such as TV & Satellite).We decided on making a trashy magazine as it suits our target audience and representsthe genre of the soap – not serious.
Colour coded days of the week tabs make it easier for the reader to find a specific day of the week
Masthead – Dominates the top third of the cover, basic language
Cheap price represent how it is weekly and thrown away, not expensive to publish, not looked after
Star’s eye positioned middle third, strong eye contact and performance to attract audience
Headings and sub headings are precise and straight to the point, yet don’t give away the what happens in detail- promotes shows
Mode of address created through the names of the soaps, magazine assumes audience know the shortened names of the soap
Website creates brand identity and use of technological convergence enables audienceto access the publication
Rhetorical questions are a persuasive technique to get the reader to watch the show and find out the answer
TV Easy is a ‘trashy’ TV guide/magazine. There are lots of colours that reflect the house style and purpose of the magazine.
Masthead – Top left of page so its visible on the news stand
Twitter hash tag –synergy and modern audience consumptiontrend. Brand reach
Conventional features (date and price). Cheap pricerepresents nature of the magazine and its frequent use through out week
Secondary feature – Primarysource image with name of show included in heading –mode of address with the font colour of each headingrepresenting the day of the week that that particularshow can be read about in the magazine – colourcoding
Strap – extra information, extra incentiveto buy magazine,
Star – strong performance with eyecontact involving and attracting the audience. Almost seekingforgiveness off the audience – looking for understanding?

Sub heading –Rhetorical question to involve the readerdirectly and get their attention
Stars in costumes that reflect their characterprofiles and their personalities – in character –involves all the cast member to introduce them to the audience with each performancerepresenting that individual person
Mise en scene connotes the genre of the show and the types of topics that will be apparent
Character placement and positioning connoteswhose friends with who and who are similar to each other.
Two characters on the left are separated from the rest of the cast. Connotations of them not fitting in with the others?
Main cast members each in character and in costumes that represent that person – gives the audience an insight into each character and what their personalities are like
Stars anchored together – connotes individual relationships /friendships and differences and similarities in personality
E4 branding and logo represent the channel with the twitter hashtag increasing brand reach thought the audience consumptiontrend of social networking
