Protector  22  Firmware  release

Protector  22  –  June  2013

-‐ Vulnerability  Scanner    The   Vulnerability   Scanner   is   the   biggest   improvement   of   this   firmware.   With   this   new  feature,   you   can   assess   the   vulnerability   of   your   network   with   a   few   clicks   and   get   a  detailed   report   of   vulnerabilities   and   the   solution   to  remove  them.

To  start  a  new  scan,  simply  click  on  New  Vulnerability  Scan  in   the   new   Vuln-‐Scanner   menu.   This   will   open   a   new    window,  where  you  can  enter  the  list  of  IPs  that  you  want  to  scan.

You   can   perform   a   scan   of   any   IP   in   the   same   subnet   of   the   Protector.   Your  gateway/router  will  automatically  be  excluded  from  the  scan.

The   Protector’s  subnet   can   be  chosen  with  a  single  click.  Otherwise,  you  can   enter   any   IP   or  range   of   IPs   in   the  entry  field.

Once   the   IPs   have  been   added,   this     button   will   start   the   scan  immediately.   On   the   home   page   you   have   an

indicator  of  the  Vulnerability  Scanner  running,  but   if  you  want  more   information,  you  can  go  to   the   List   of   Vulnerability   Scans,   which   you  can  find  in  the  Vuln-‐Scanner  menu.

On  the  list  that  appears,  click  on  the  Scan    ID.

This  will  display  the  list  of  IPs  the  Protector  is  scanning.

When   the   scan   is   complete,   you  can  get  a  PDF   report  with   the   scan   results,   through   the  icons  in  the  column  Options.

The   Protector   can   perform   the   vulnerability  scan   of   several   IPs   at   the   same   time.   The  number   of   parallel   scans   is   given   by   the  number  of  users  in  your  license.

-‐ New  Charts    To   increase   the   monitoring   capabilities   of   the   Protector,   we   have   added   a   number   of  charts,  available  through  the  home  page.  The  new  charts  are:

• CPU  load  history  last  60  minutes  • CPU  load  history  last  24  hours  • Emails  received  last  60  minutes    • Spam  received  last  60  minutes  • Length  of  incoming  mail  queue  last  60  minutes  •  Length  of  incoming  mail  queue  last  24  hours

All   new   charts   scroll   automatically   to   the   left,   showing   at   any  moment,   the  most   recent  period.

The   charts   to   display   on   the   home   page  can  be  configured  through  Setup  –  Home  Page  Charts  in  the  Advanced  Menu.

The   charts   are   now   displayed   in   a  separate,  highlighted  box.

When   you   download   the   new  firmware,   a   popup   window   will  remind  you  about  the  new  charts  and  will  provide  a  direct   link  to  the  setup  page.   When   you   click   on   the   link   in  the   popup,   it   won’t   be   shown   any  more.

-‐ Anti-‐Spam  charts    It’s  now  possible  to  display  charts  on  the  Anti-‐Spam  login  page.   This   function   is   available   through   the   Anti-‐Spam  menu  and  will  open  the  Charts  setup  page,  where  you  can  choose  the  charts  to  display  on  the  Anti-‐Spam  login  page.

-‐ Anti-‐Spam  users    By   default,   users   with   an  email   in   the   domains  managed   by   the   Protector,  can   create   an   Anti-‐Spam  account   by   themselves,   by  just  clicking  the  link  in  the  Anti-‐Spam  login  page.  Now  it’s  possible  to  deny  users  to  create

accounts   with   this   new   function,   available   in   the   E-‐Mail  Configuration,  in  the  Advanced  Menu.
