Biometrics... The measurement of physical characteristics, such as fingerprints, DNA, or retinal patterns, for use in verifying the identity of individuals.
•Fingerprints•Voice recognition•Retina scan
How does biometrics work?
Biometric devices consist of a reader or scanning device, software that converts the gathered information into digital form, and a database that stores the biometric data for comparison with previous records. When converting the biometric input, the software identifies specific points of data as match points. The match points are processed using an algorithm into a value that can be compared with biometric data in the database.
Types of Biometrics... Biometrics can be both Physical and Behavioral.

Catering staff at an Essex
school are taking the
fingerprints of pupils at
lunchtime to ensure they get the meals their
parents want them to eat.
How do they work in schools? Students are asked for their fingerprints, so that they could be entered in a database, so that they can be
comparedin later use.
When the pupils want their food, then the school asks for their fingerprints in order to authorize the delivery of the meal.
Once their fingerprints are compared to the ones in the databases, then they meal is given to them.
What is the parents role in this?
Parents are allowed to choose online the foods their kids are allowed to have at school.
This not only helps the students health because the parents are choosing healthy foods for them; but it also allows the parents to choose how much it is appropriate to spend and so give the school and pupils no permission to spend more
