Few Questions
The things I hope to address today:
...and last but not least, how to make one!
What is a podcast?
Why should you care about them?
What does it involve, costs & kit?
4. A Podcast Is...
A piece of pre-recorded media delivered to subscribers for
download via the web.
On demand, not broadcast live
Can be audio or video
Nothing to do with the Apple iPod
Emerging media format, still young
Subscription based, fans subscribe to an RSS feed and are
notified of new episodes as they hit the feed.
Usually anmp3file for audio but could be any format
5. RSS = Really Simple Syndication An RSS feed is simply a list
of content on a site which is updated by when something is
published and checked by subscribers. When new content exists they
are informed. 6. Why You Should Care
Major promotional tool for your product or service
Cost advantages over traditional media TV or Radio
Global reach, a potential International audience
The opportunities are endless
It's fun to do!! :)
7. Promotion - Examples
Diggnation Revision3 Internet Television
TWIT This Week In Tech
Lullabot Drupal Podcast
Will It Blend?
8. Costs Audio Equipment
Microphones, mixers etc. Don't have to be expensive.

interface. Free software like Audacity
Starter packs with everything you need are available from
85

Domain name 10 per year or less
Large media files can mean lots of bandwidth

right now.

or TV station

to people all over the planet

interesting to viewers or listeners
Perhaps include some music but make sure you can legally use

easily.
Drupal audio module, WP PodPress plugin

http://feeds.feedburner.com/mypodcast
13. Upload Your Content
Produce a file, mp3, ogg whatever. A finished product
Upload your media file and publish, your feed should
update.
That's it you've published a podcast but there's more you can
do...
14. iTunes and Beyond
You can add your podcast to iTunes by submitting the feed
address.
Promote your show by listing it in directories:
