Model Exporting

In order to use the models I've created in the Unity engine, I first need to export the models as one

of a number of different model file types. In my case, I will be using FBX files, as this type of file

carries over the surfaces that I have applied in the NewTek Lightwave modeler.

Firstly, I open the model that I want to export in the modeler program, and select the file > export

dropdown menu. The abbreviations that we see are the different model types, though as specified

earlier, I'll be using the .FBX subtype.

After selecting a version (the default selection works fine for most compatibility purposes, changing

versions is more of an advanced techniques for specialization purposes), the model can be saved via

windows explorer as any other file would.

Another note about model exporting is that if I had saved the model as a .OBJ file, I would have

needed to keep a separate file that contains the textured surface data for the model, but as an .FBX,

I only require the exported model.
