Business Intelligence and Mainframe encompassed over 50 business applications, several of them mission-critical. Testing for all were done in isolation with no clarity on the processes followed for the others � Almost half the testing team comprised
of contractors who had little ownership, eventually compromising on the quality
� Manual testing process added to lack of consistency across the three applications

redefine entire testing setup and move to a managed testing services model
• Phase 1 - Included knowledge transfer and process definition. Introduced Bugzilla and TestDirector for defect and test management respectively
• Phase 2 - Optimized productivity through offshore testing. Similar applications were grouped by technology, functionality, etc. to aid in resource sharing within a stream. Also helped in reuse of text cases and artifacts
• Phase 3 - Concentrated on optimizing resources across streams through effective training and multi-skilling. This helped breaking silos and provide a holistic view of the business process being tested
• Phase 4 - Aimed at end-to-end testing and expanded scope to cover user acceptance testing offshore thus reducing cost
