Voice calls
• LTE support only packet switching• Voice calls in GSM, UMTS and CDMA2000 are circuit switched
• How can we use regular voice call or SMS on LTE?• How can we refer to handset number on IP-based network?• How can we handle to continue voice call on 2G/3G when the LTE
network disappear?
Solution (in development)
• VoLTE – Voice over LTE• based on IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem)• similar to VoIP
• CSFB – Circuit Switched Fallback• LTE provides only data services• fallback to circuit switched when do voice call
• SVLTE – Simultaneous Voice and LTE• handset works simultaneously on both LTE and CS• based on handset - no special requirements on the network

• limited number of handset models are supported• every LTE handsets still very expensive

• scalable system bandwidth up to 100 MHz• support relay node base stations• up to 3.3Gbps peak download rates (with aggregated 100 MHz
