FleetSync® & FleetSync® II Kenwood’s FleetSync® digital signalling system includes PTT IDdigital ANI for instant radio call identification and Emergencystatus for personnel safety. FleetSync also includes status messaging, selective calling and short/long text dispatch messaging features. The TK-2180/3180 supports either originalFleetSync® or FleetSync® II*.

DUAL PRIORITY & VARIOUS SCANNING FUNCTIONSDual-Priority Scan automatically checks two important channelsfor activity while channel scanning. Also, each radio can be programmed to scan any organization of channels and talk groupsusing the many programmable scan features and parameters.

5-TONE SIGNALLINGIn addition to FleetSync®, the TK-2180/3180 includes the industrystandard signalling formats: QT/DQT, DTMF and 5-tone. In particular, 5-tone signalling has been significantly enhanced forgreater flexibility, and current users of this format will welcomethe fact that it can be used in combination with FleetSync® forShort/Long Text Messaging.

AVAILABLE SOFTWARE (OPT.)ZVEI-Digital signalling and a voting function that utilizes the signalling can be added as optional software.

VOICE GUIDE & STORAGE* (OPT.)This innovative Kenwood option makes several functions possible.‘‘Voice Guide’’ announces channel, zone, feature activation/deactivation, etc. in a clear synthesised voice. ‘‘Voice Storage’’records up to 300 seconds of receive audio for missed calls oryour own voice for memo recording. In theabsence of further response from the user, the TK-2180/3180will place an emergency call to a pre-determined person orgroup of people.

TRANSPARENT DATA MODEKenwood’s Transparent Data mode works in combination withFleetSync® to enable full character transparency for exchangingdata with a transceiver linked to a PC or peripheral equipment.This can be used for remote control and remote maintenance ofstatus monitoring, etc.

reliable communications. Highly compact design,advanced features and remote control head option make it ideal

for mobile and base station applications.

6 programmable backlit keys customize the unit to the specificneeds and features of the operator day or night.

Enhanced Kenwood Audio optimizes voice frequency components for greater audio quality and clarity in even the mostchallenging ambient noise conditions and HF applications.

Powerful, tough and reliable

100W heavy-duty TX* provides the punch for long-distancecommunications. The twin cooling fans and the enhanced heatsink dissipation characteristics mean reliable, stable transmissionperformance hour after hour.*100% duty for 30mins at 25°C, 25% duty continuous operation.

Compact and easy to use

Extremely small dimensions mean the TK-90 is transportableand installation-friendly for vehicles and base stations. The low-power settings facilitate battery- and solar-powered usage inthe field.

300 memory channel capacity provides for custom operationand monitor frequency settings. Each channel has a programmable 12-character alphanumeric name for user-friendlychannel selection via the backlit LCD.

The KRK-5 Remote Control Head option makes vehicularinstallation in any type vehicle possible. The control head can bemounted up to 7.6 meters from the transceiver unit mountedsecurely out of sight and out of the way under a seat, in the trunkor other compartment.

The wide viewing angle of the LCD panel makes operation easyfrom any position.

Easy-installation port accommodates the optional VGS-1 unit,aftermarket GPS receiver boards or voice scrambler boards.

Data port connects external radio data modems (KCT-39 accessory interface cable option required). The KCT-39 auxiliaryinputs/outputs can also be used for sensor inputs or to controlexternal equipment.

DSP controlled Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) functionsprovided by the KPE-2 option establish automatic optimum channel links between units rather than operators searching for afrequency under varying atmospheric and noise conditions.

Compliance with 6 MIL-STD specifications – including shock,vibration, dust, driven rain and salt fog – assures reliable performance under the toughest conditions. The cooling intake hasintegral dust protection and the remote control head meets IP54dust and water intrusion standards.

High-Stability TCXO ensures excellent frequency stability performance in most severe temperature environments.

Enhanced safety & security features include an emergencymode in all transmission modes – voice, CW, and Status Call.Status Call includes GPS positioning report (GPS interfaced boardrequired). Also, the TK-90 has a non-erasable electronic serialnumber, a password-protected rewriteable embedded messageand password-protected program data features for added securityand ownership protection. Other security features support a datapassword.

Versatile and expandable

Selective Call enables individual, group or open calling ideal fordistributed networks of HF transceivers with a silent standby feature for operators. The TK-90 Selcall is compatible with its predecessor model TK-80 and handles up to 999 IDs and with aprogrammable ID list to assign alphanumeric names to 100 IDs.

Status Call provides up to 70 pre-canned status numbers for simple non-voice messaging and a 50 status number list with programmable alphanumeric names that provides a user-friendlydisplay of the status message.

The optional VGS-1 Voice Guide and Storage Unit offers anaudible announcement of channel numbers. Voice Storage provides four 15-second memory banks for recording memos andoutgoing messages; it can also record incoming messages –15sec. x 2 channels – for unattended response (the calling unitmust send a status call for activation). Additionally, a convenientcontinuous recording function means you can always play backthe last 30 seconds of reception for confirmation.

CONVENTIONAL REPEATER OPERATION The TKR-750/850 are “community repeater-ready” witha built-in internal 16 QT/DQT group controller andprogrammable repeater functions such as CWTransmitter ID, Hang-Timer, Time-Out-Timer and RepeatEnable/Disable Key. The 15W-to-50W (TKR-850:15W-to-40W) adjustable output power is ideal foron-site low power repeater applications.

CONVENTIONAL OR TRUNKING SYSTEM USEThe TKR-750/850 can serve as the core element of anyconventional or trunking repeater system. The internalconventional controller can be used, or an externalconventional or trunking logic controller can be easilyinterfaced for advanced systems.

SIMPLEX OR DUPLEX BASE STATIONOPERATIONThe TKR-750/850 can be operated in simplex orfull-duplex base station mode with up to 16 channelsand priority scan. Internal solid state antenna switchingis provided for simplex single-antenna base stationoperation. The accessory connectors provide remotecontrol interface. Also programmable are the six PFfunction keys, LED indicators, control/warning/alert/power-on tones and tone volume for facilitating anyremote site installation.

DTMF OVER-THE-AIR REMOTE CONTROLAll front panel PF Key functions and AUX Input functions can be remotely activated and deactivatedover-the-air via DTMF codes (up to 16 digits each) andprovide an acknowledgement single tone or customDTMF transpond code. Also AUX Inputs, upon activationand deactivation will encode unique DTMF codes formonitoring and alarm purposes.

LED DISPLAY & INDICATORSThe enhanced 7-segment/2-character front panel LEDprovides 2-character alphanumeric channel designatorand scan indicator for base station operation, a PLLunlock indicator and a PC program mode status. Frontpanel dual-color LED’s provide Transmit, Busy,Primary/Backup DC Power indications.

BACKUP POWER FEATURESThe Backup Battery Warning Tone transmits an over-the-air5-second tone after DC supply has switched from“main’’ to “backup’’ power. Optionally a reminderOperation Tone can be transmitted while on backuppower. These tones can be triggered when either DCpower is connected to the “backup’’ DC input line orwhen the supplied voltage is lower than the programmedPower Supply Level DC voltage setting.
