Some facts & numbers…• Rape: Fourth most common crime against women in India

• 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012. Out of which 24,470 were committed by relative or neighbor, who relatively knew the schedule of victim.

• Thousands of cases go unreported in many parts of rural India, where many women travel alone to collect water or purchase basic essential goods.

• 2000 Crore INR = ~330 Mln USD allocated in Indian Budget for women safety initiatives. Actual spent in the year ZERO.

• Same or worse trends in other countries in Africa, Indian sub-continent and South-east Asia.

Why Mobile based solution?• Most unreported crimes happen in rural India and rural Teledensity

increased from 1.21% in 2002 to 41.96% in 2013
