Jünger Audio Product Overview

T*AP Television Audio Processor

This creative tool is designed to make your transition to loudness controlled broadcasting smooth and easy. With 8 processing channels, 3G SDI, Dolby® support and optional loudness logging features, the T*AP covers every requirement that the broadcaster needs.

Jünger Audio’s award-winning T*AP Televi-sion Audio Processor focuses on automatic and adaptive loudness management compliant with all current broadcast audio loudness recommendations including ITU.1770 (versions 1 and 2), ATSC A/85, ARIB TR-B32 and EBU R128.

Features

The T*AP features loudness control and dynamic range processing for up to eight channels of audio (4x2, or 5.1+2). Optional Dolby® decoding and encoding (Dolby E, or Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital or AAC, HE-AAC v1/2) including metadata mana-gement are also provided, along with 5.1 downmix and upmix features and sophisti-cated failover and voiceover systems.

Dynamic range control and level magic

Based on a unique multi-loop control principle, Jünger Audio’s LEVEL MAGIC™ algorithm offers adaptive wideband control

with exceptionally high audio quality and without any coloration, pumping, distortion or modulation effects. The dynamic section comes with an expander and upward compressor to cover an input dynamic range of 50dB! LEVEL MAGIC™ offers uncompromised loudness management by combining three unique gain changing elements:

• Transient Processor• Adaptive AGC • Distortion-free true peak limiter

Spectral Signature™

Jünger Audio’s Spectral Signature™ dynamic equalizer gives you a powerful creative tool to control the spectral structure of your program. Spectral Signature™ analyzes incoming audio and compares its spectral structure with a predetermined “station sound” curve. This allows dynamic EQ corrections to be applied, if necessary, to give a consistent sound image. Spectral Signature™ is a T*AP standard feature.

System integration

All system parameters are remotely accessible allowing the unit to be integrated and remotely controlled by broadcast control - or automation systems. This allows users to apply individual processing to their programs, which is a key feature for well-managed loudness control. A web interface also allows easy and intuitive set up and configuration.

Interfaces and system security

Audio I/O’s range from on board AES I/O to optional 3G/HD/SD SDI I/O including video delay or even analog I/O. All interfaces support power fail bypass as standard. With redundant PSU and SNMP integration the unit ensures maximum operational safety.

Jünger Audio Product Overview

M*AP Monitoring Audio Processor

This ground-breaking tool combines an audio monitor controller with network-enabled loudness measurement features in one unit. It provides comprehensive quality control and loudness monitoring for anyone working in a broadcast production, post-production or playout environment.

Loudness measurement

To check compliance of programs with your local loudness regulations the unit will analyze loudness and true peak levels from input signals and transfer the measurement data via Ethernet to an optional measure-ment and logging software, anywhere in your network. These measurements can be triggered by automation systems via GPIs or via network - or even manually by buttons on the X*AP RM1 remote panel. The M*AP can also generate SNMP or GPI/O alarms in case pre-determined limits are exceeded.

SDI support

By incorporating auto sensing 3G, HD or SD SDI, M*AP gives users access to 8 out of 16 channels of SDI embedded audio. In practice you can listen to one program while permanently logging the loudness of two (5.1 +2 mode) or four (4x2 mode) programs. It is also possible to send other embedded programs to M*AP’s AES outputs to feed a third party instrument for analyzing and/or display. The M*AP’s SDI board can also be used as an embedder, and comes with video delay to compensate any latency between audio and video.

Interfaces and system security

Audio I/O’s range from on board AES I/O to optional 3G/HD/SD SDI I/O including video delay or even analog I/O. With redundant PSU and SNMP integration the unit ensures maximum operational safety.

Targeting quality control (QC) of surround (5.1) and/or stereo programs, M*AP is designed for live monitoring and compli-ance measurements according to loudness standards and regulations such as ITU.1770 (all versions), ATSC A/85, ARIB TR-B32, EBU R128 and Dialogue Intelligence®.

Monitoring controller

Alongside loudness measurements, M*AP also offers monitoring control features. It supports up to eight speakers to allow for A/B checking of stereo compatibility of a surround downmix through alternative speakers, as well as via L/R front speakers. A Dolby® production toolset emulates a coding and decoding process and lets you check your listener’s sound impression after decoding.

Jünger Audio Product Overview

V*AP Voice Audio ProcessorThe V*AP system makes voice processing easy with no com-promises in sound quality. It also provides all the flexibility you would expect from a Jünger Audio product.

Spectral Signature

With Spectral Signature™ dynamic EQ, you get a useful tool that offers automatic and dynamic EQ control to balance spectral differences to one specific voice. Spec-tral Signature™ analyzes incoming audio and compares the spectral structure with individual predetermined voice “footprints”. This allows dynamic EQ corrections to be applied, if necessary, to give a consistent sound image. Spectral Signature™ is a V*AP standard feature.

Integration and remote control

The V*AP offers interfaces that allow inte-gration in existing environments via an AES insert. An optional analog board can also be used to add 2 high quality mic-preamps. Preset management can be arranged via network integration. The X*AP RM1 provi-des all the necessary features to control up to 4 units via hardware simultaneously, while V*AP’s network integration is designed to allow full integration into broadcast schedu-ling- and studio management systems. With this feature preset changes can be carried out automatically according to your content schedule.

Voice processing

Primarily designed to apply individual processing to voice base applications, the 2 channel V*AP toolset includes processing such as HP/LP filtering, dynamic section, full parametric EQ and de-essing. A dedicated voice leveler helps integrate voice programs into loudness-based broadcasting. Ideally suited to radio stations and TV produc-tion voice-over applications, this unit will make daily life easier and let you focus on content.
