CREATE ARCMAP DOCUMENT

• ADD GEODATABASE

• ADD ADDITIONAL VECTOR DATA

• REVIEW ARCMAP BMP’S (PROJECTIONS,DATA SOURCES,VISIBLE SCALE RANGES,LABELING,SYMBOLOGY,EXTENTS,METADATA AND DESCRIPTIONS AND MXD SAVED IN UT EGIS)

• SHARED SERVICES (PARAMETERS, CAPABILITIES AND FEATURE ACCESS, DESCRIPTIONS AND ANALYSIS)

PUBLICATION OF SERVICES

THIS IS A HOSTED FEATURE SERVICE.

THE DATA RESIDES IN AGOL CLOUD SERVICES.

WE COULD CHOOSE A DIFFERENT CONNECTION AND BLM-EGIS WOULD HOST THE DATA AND AGOL WOULD DYNAMICALLY CONSUME THAT FOR PUBLICATION.

Connnect is a desktop app.

Sign in first using your SAMAL or geoplatformaccount.

Creating surveys is more robust as data rules can be more specific using xml markups.

BASEMAPS, OPERATIONAL LAYERS, TILE MAP PACKAGES

• Basemaps – generally static and well suited for caching. The basemap serves as a foundation for all subsequent operations and mapping.

• Operational Layers - operational layers are often dynamic, and thus generally should not be cached in advance. These data can be served with capabilities to edit.

• Tile Map Packages – combining basemaps and operational date together to customize reference data for mobile applications. * note this renders dynamic data to static.

BASEMAPS – OFFLINE AND SIDE LOADING

Collector for ArcGIS can consume your feature service prepped for editing and published basemaps. Areas of Interests or Project Areas can be defined for downloading offline use data

Survey123 can use premade TPK basemaps and sideloaded into GIS directories on your mobile device and used offline.

TPKs can be created with ArcMap, ArcPro or third party products like Tile Package Kreator.

SMART DEVICES – LOCATION SERVICES, HIGH ACCURACY SETTINGS, GPS RECEIVERS (CHIPSETS AND BLUETOOTH)

• LOCATION SERVICES - With your permission, Location Services allows apps and websites (including Maps, Camera, Weather, and other apps) to use information from cellular, Wi-Fi, Global Positioning System (GPS)networks, and Bluetooth to determine your approximate location.

• HIGH ACCURACY SETTINGS - When you select the High accuracy location service mode, you are allowing multiple networks to pinpoint your precise location (hence the name High accuracy). It does however, inhibit your accuracy when you are offline from everything but GPS.

• GPS (CHIPSETS AND EXTERNAL RECEIVERS) – Broadcom and Qualcomm chips are SiRFstarV Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems GNSS (GLONASS, SBAS,NAVSTAR, GALILEO). Generally 100-500 cm. The new model BCM47755 GPS chips feature a dual frequency design that allows data to intersect from two satellite-generated location points, providing location accuracy improvements down to about 30-50 cm. External receivers such as Garmin Glo $100, Trimble R1–R2 $2500-5000 are Bluetooth paired and will give more GPS channels and will reduce battery consumption on your tablet. There are also USB GPS Dongles –Bad Elf and GlobalSat. These require some virtual com-port software to expose NMEA language to your apps.

• APPS – S1, GPS Data and GPS Test

DATA SYNCING AND SURVEY123 OUTBOX

Collector for ArcGIS uses downloaded project areas. The edit capable feature service data collected in the field can be synced back into the hosted feature service on AGOL as soon as the device is online.

Survey123 data collection is stored in a outbox and each form(feature) entry is stored separately. Once the device is online, the outbox data can be transmitted to the Survey123 web application for data analysis and review.

Page 36: BLM UT Mobile Data Collection

DATA POST PROCESSING

• Collector – Remember, the Collector feature service was published from a FGDB. The form(s) were built from domains within the GDB. After sync, we can go into the web map to review and post edit. At this time our training feature service is hosted at AGOL. As discussed earlier, we intend to host our feature services internally and post editing and review will be dynamic. Edits performed on this AGOL hosted feature are not dynamic to our original FGDB. There are tools in Arc Tool Box to sync AGOL hosted feature services and attachments, back to the source FGDB.

• Survey123 – Survey123 data was collected on form(s)built using XML technology, there is no source GDB. Also, the ability for Survey123 to collect multiple choices per field make post editing only possible through the mobile application itself. Survey123 made post editing capable my integrating an “Inbox” in the app. After sending your “outbox data to the Survey123 web app, you can recall any dataset back into your mobile app through the inbox. Then you can make changes, and then resend back to the Survey123 web app. This must be done online.
