Chalk line A chalk line is used to provide a straight line to fix rules and cornice.

It will be snapped around theperimeter of a room at wall line and ceiling line.

Cordless drillA screw gun is an essentialtool used in workshops forvarious jobs such asconstructing running mouldsand fixing running rules.

Hessian scrimCanvas/hessian is awoven fabric of jute.

It comes in a range ofwidths.

Used as reinforcementwhen casting.

Plaster binA fibrous plaster workshopwill have a plaster bin/box.

Usually made from strongmarine plywood.

This is constructed to holdcasting plaster.

Vibrating tablesThese are used to release air locks when cement casting.

Other equipment used in workshops includes slosh tank (used for washing) and lath tank (used for soaking laths).

MaterialsThe following materials are used in the production of plaster and cement casts:

Sand, cement, lime, French chalk, release agents, casting plaster, autoclaved plaster, canvas, lath, sealants, tie wire, retarders, accelerators, screws, adhesive, epoxy resin, methylated spirits, paraffin, tallow.
