Now, the academy aims to be a proving ground for a wholesale shift in the way education is delivered in Egypt. And, before long, to become a best-practice model for the region.

To do that AASTMT had to seize the opportunity presented by the Internet of Everything. “We wanted to merge the physical and virtual worlds into one another,” says Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ali, Director, Computer Networks and Data Center.

But Wi-Fi was pretty much non-existent, and wired networks were far too slow. Dr. Ali adds, “We had to invest in a fast, intelligent infrastructure. Cisco was able to deliver everything in a very aggressive timeframe.”
