Does your organization plan to use the public cloud in 2013?
A sample of the verbatim responses:• Privacy, security, availability concerns• Cannot decide on which one• Not yet part of our strategy• HIPAA• Our CIO doesn’t trust the public cloud• Cost• Budget• We are a school and restricted with what can
be put on the cloud• Working on it for 2013• Not fully investigated• No current need• Significant existing investments in on-site
infrastructure• Our customers have restrictions that prevent

Why are you not metering your IT infrastructure consumption?
IT metering is the process of gathering and analyzing IT infrastructure consumption, just like metering electric utility consumption with a meter today. IT metering enables organizations
to optimize costs and operational efficiency by:
• Normalizing IT resource consumption data from all infrastructure into one single unit of measure regardless of the location, operating systems, hypervisors, or cloud platforms for comprehensive, apples-to-apples analysis
• Identifying over-provisioned hardware and opportunities to eliminate waste• Pinpointing optimal utilization rates to save money and improve operational efficiency• Classifying workloads and matching them with the appropriate type of IT infrastructure
