How schoolchildren
can contribute to keeping
our planet green and clean
Let’s learn a bit of Bulgarian!
Before you start learning Bulgarian language, you
need to learn the Bulgarian alphabet.
In Bulgarian, we use the Cyrillic alphabet. The same
alphabet (with some modifications) is used in
other languages as Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian,
Serbian, Macedonian and some Central Asian Altaic
languages.
All over the country on 24th May schools are decorated with flowers and portraits of the brothers St. St. Cyril
and Methodius.
The Bulgarian alphabet was created in 855.
With the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union on January 1, 2007, Cyrillic became the third official alphabet of the EU.
This is the first alphabet. It had more letters which were more complicated.
. ютия
This is an iron.
• In the years it changed to 30 letters / 6 vowels, 22 consonants and 2
diphthongs - ю and я.
ябълка
This is an apple.
ягода
This is a strawberry.
Some of the letters in the Bulgarian alphabet have a graphic equivalent of Latin, but there are 19 letters that you cannot find in Latin – Б, Г,
