BLUE ‘hooks round’ the finishing mark, and then luffs and crosses the finishing line.

She sails for the shore. Has she now finished?

YES, the moment she first crosses the finishing line in the direction of the course from the last mark. But she can be protested for not sailing the course, because her ‘string’ is on the wrong side of the finishing mark.

BLUE ‘hooks round’ the finishing mark, and crosses the finishing line. She luffs and sails back over the finishing line and then back round the mark.

She then crosses the finishing line for the third time. Has she now finished?

Yes, because she crosses it in the right direction ‘after correcting an error made at the finishing line’, and she now has correct ‘string’.
