Millbrook (4-2) – For the Blazers, the playoffs have already begun. Millbrook needed to beat Tri-Valley on Friday night and did so by 38 points. Now it needs to beat Liberty this week to finish 2-1 in the league and then hope for the best when Sullivan West and Liberty play the following week.

Marlboro (4-2) – A little shaky in the first half of Saturday’s 35-21 win over Red Hook, and that’s not us saying that. Marlboro coach Rich Ward was not pleased with a first-half effort that saw the Iron Dukes on the low end of a 21-7 score. But, for now, Marlboro clinched a playoff berth and prepares for Burke and Highland.

Newburgh (4-2) – 72 points. Don’t care how bad the opponent is, especially at the Class AA level, 72 points is 72 points. Newburgh crushed Pine Bush and is just licking its chops for another shot at Monroe-Woodbury in the playoffs.

Lourdes (5-1) – Lourdes was in the driver’s seat for the Section One, Class B title before giving up two scores in the final nine minutes in a loss to Ardsley. The Warriors have already clinched a playoff berth so now it’s just a matter of playing for seedings and a first-game home game.

Highland (5-1) – Tough loss for Class B Highland against Class C Sullivan West, but West is a pretty darn good Class C team. No matter. The important thing for Highland is the Huskies have already clinched a playoff berth in Section Nine, Class B and are looking at the huge showdown with Marlboro in two weeks for the top seed.

Wallkill (5-1) – Easy win over Goshen behind three TDs from A.J. Dembroski. Some will question the leap in the rankings, especially over two teams (Highland and Lourdes) that just lost their first games, but you have to give respect where it’s due. One point – ONE point – separates the Panthers from an undefeated season.

FDR (5-1) Big, big, big-time comeback for the Presidents, who looked as awful as they could in falling behind 14-0 at the half to Valley Central only to rally for 22 unanswered points in the second half to win it. FDR is in the driver’s seat for a playoff berth.

Arlington (5-1) – An easy win over Ketcham propels Arlington all the way to the No. 2 spot this week, which is just as much based on the Admirals five consecutive victories. Arlington is clicking right now and would love another shot at John Jay in the playoffs.

John Jay (5-1) – No change at the top. Another easy victory for the Patriots as Brad Belotti leads the team to a 34-6 victory over White Plains. That was more than enough to give John Jay back the top seed in the playoffs using the Piner Scoring System. It should hold with no problem.
