Why do we have assemblies?

Our school is so large that it’s easy to lose track of what makes us special

Students are the real reason why our school is great; assemblies are a way to honor the great things students do in and out of the classroom

Assemblies are a great way to build a sense of community and school spirit

Page 6: Scots’ PRIDE at Assemblies and Football Games. Friday, October 2ndFriday, October 2nd

How can you show PRIDE during assemblies?

Show enthusiasm and school spirit

Listen and participate at appropriate times

Show respect during National tributes by standing quietly

Page 7: Scots’ PRIDE at Assemblies and Football Games. Friday, October 2ndFriday, October 2nd

Ask yourself…

How would you feel if your friend/team/club was being recognized?

How would you want the audience to behave?

How do you want visitors to view David Douglas High School?

Remember…

Every assembly is packed with announcements and activities, which must happen in a short amount of time

Assemblies are a privilege

Assemblies are opportunities to show your school and class spirit in a fun, positive way

New Stadium

Our new facility is a place to be proud of

It is a place for our student-athletes and the David Douglas spirit to thrive

It is a place to welcome visiting teams, parents and community members

New Facility = New Traffic Flow

To make our new facility a fun place to be for everyone, there are some new guidelines to follow.

The student section is just for you! A place to gather in school colors, show school spirit, support our team and look impressive to our visitors

There is a new traffic flow during our games

The main grandstand walkway and the area around the concessions stand must be kept clear, so it is not the place to stop and talk
