Dr. Cesar Parra: The Equestrian Practice

Dr. Cesar Parra is a highly accomplished dressage rider and trainer who has participated in a number of

internationally-recognized equestrian events, some of which he used to being home gold medals of his

own. Most recently, he was the US Intermediate 1 National Champion in 2010; a Gold Medal winner at the

Pan American Games in 2011; and the recipient of team and individual silvers at the 2013 Nation’s Cup.

All that happened after getting his first taste of international recognition as a Samsung Cup winner nearly

two decades ago.

Now, he is the owner of his own state-of-the-art training facility, Piaffe Performance, which has now been

in business for over 15 years. With the help of his expert staff, he and his team have helped raise new

champion riders and horses through a variety of tailored programs that all reflect the same core values

that brought their very own to success. Below, he shares what some of the most crucial practices behind

raising horses and riders are.

Classic German Methods

Dr. Cesar Parra and his team of specialists all carry a strict adherence to classic German training methods

that have been proven to produce champion-caliber competitors. These methods revolve around a classic

training scale, which is implemented by teaching Relaxation, Rhythm, Contact, Impulsion, Straightness,

and Collection in that exact order so that both the rider and horse develop together and form a bond that’s

forged in camaraderie and make the pair perform better as a duo.

Proper Horse Treatment

Each and every horse at Piaffe Performance is treated like a champion, even if they haven’t quite

reached that caliber yet. That is because Dr. Cesar Parra appreciates the sensitivity and emotional depth

of these mystical creatures, which starts with proper health care and a little TLC. At Dr. Parra’s facility, all

horses are given regular Farrier visits. They are also given as needed equine medical, equine dentist,

equine acupuncturist and equine massage therapist visits to ensure they are in the best possible shape

for the next competition.
