• Born on November 7, 1977

• Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and moved with family to Northern Virginia at age 5.

Growth of Lindsay

• As a college student, Lindsay started out as an intern for WUSA, a CBS-affiliated television station, in Washington D.C.

• In September of 2006, Czarniak became the co-host of The George Michael Sports Machine. During this year she travelled to Italy as her first Major reporter assignment.

• On June 23, 2011, the announcement of Czarniak leaving NBC 4 for ESPN was made. She began on SportsCenter on Augst19,2011.

• On April 24, 2013 ESPN/ABC revealed Czarniak would host the Indianpolis 500, becoming the first woman to host the telecast.

Why this career path?

• Lindsay Czarniak’s father, Chet Czarniak spent

17 years working in newspaper’s sports

department, which played a role in Lindsay’s life.

• Lindsay grew up a sports fan and also took part

in sports by playing at her high school.

• These factors influenced Lindsay resulting in her

to major in Online Journalism and pursue her

career.

• Trying to make sure work

Work?

• Lindsays starts her day

officially at 11:30 AM with co

workers. They converse on

possible big sports stories from

the prior day. Lindsay does

some reading and preparation

before arriving at work by

keeping up to date on the latest

sports news.

How many hours per

week does the job

require?

• Lindsay takes an hour commute to the office, and

works an average of 63 hours a week.

• Although the work day is over Lindsay goes

home and does find herself watching sports, but

tries not to have the job run her life

Advice for future

Broadcasters?

• It’s normal to feel pressure in the beginning and want to

make sure everything is perfect.

• As a female there is even more pressure, prepare to do

more homework to avoid any criticism, although women

have come a long way.

• It is important to enjoy the ride of covering sports. You

gain many amazing experiences. Whatever anyone wants

to do in this field, you can do.

• As Vice president, Kristen Kuliga has to keep the celebrity

services division running which includes fan clubs, VIP

ticketing programs, backstage events for fans, and hosting

appearances for athletes.

• The other side is the business division which involves

representation of NFL players and managing charity events

for the athletes as well as corporations.

• Secures contracts & negotiates salaries with sports teams on

behalf of their athlete. They also advise athletes financially

and on their career.

Career Path

• Kuliga grew up around sports and was also an athlete herself. After graduating law school, she was offered an internship at Woolf Assoc.

• While working at Woolf, Kuliga oversaw the athlete marketing program and worked closely with Doug Flutie, who after accepting a contract with New England, asked Kuliga to represent him.

• After becoming certified by the NFLPA, Doug became a free agent which is when Kuliga began her first negotiation on her own on behalf of Doug.

Working as NFL Agent

• Kuliga had to prepare by doing research and understanding who other quarterbacks were in order to get a feel of the competition. Her research helped her become better experienced as an agent.

Advice for Future Sports

Agents

• Kuliga advices anyone aspiring to be a sports agent to

follow their passion, do not let people deter you by saying

you can’t do it.

• Have a tough skin, do not take things personally. It is all

about business, not you as a person.

• Have a sense of humor, settles people and situations

down.

• Women, go for it!

One Element Kuliga would change in

sports industry

Change the industry by making it more female oriented. The sports

business, especially football, are dominated by males. Women are put

in the offices and less of the actual sports agency jobs. This has

changed over the years and should continue to change by allowing

more females into the sports business.

Being A Female in Sports

• Kuligas drive as a sports agent as well as achievements

are highlighted because of the lack of females in the

sports business.

• Kuliga is the leading female sports agent in the United

States and represents more than a dozen NFL players.

• 1 of 30 female agents.

• The first woman to negotiate a starting NFL quarterback’s

contract of $33 million.
