What does this mean for your son or daughter?

To meet the above goals the Canton Soccer Club has strived to be a leader in the soccer community. Independence Park is one of the larg-

est and most beautiful parks in the state and is home to both our games and our practices, giving us a training facility second to none. We

operate one of the largest tournaments in the country (approximately 600 teams this year), the Canton Cup, every Memorial Day weekend.

Our teams are competitive at the highest levels of the game and we strive to offer every player interested a place to play.

Through all of that, our focus has been and will remain to develop each player within our club to their highest potential.

If you are new to our Select and Premier program it is important to note that you are joining a club and not just a team. By joining a club you

get to share in all of the assets and benefits that we as a club can offer, including the support of a fulltime staff including our Club Director/

DOC, Technical Directors, Goalkeeping Coach, Youth/Academy Director and Board of Directors. If your child joins a Canton Select or Premier

team, he or she will be getting involved in a level of soccer beyond what you may have experienced in recreational soccer. These players

are very committed and enthusiastic; the coaching is skilled, energetic and disciplined. Especially as your child ages into the U13 and above

level, he or she could be challenged in games not only in the Detroit area, but across the state. Select and Premier players of all ages may

be involved in out-of-state tournaments. These teams have great fun and often both players and parents alike find that the team dynamics

make such involvement a great way to spend time together as a family, and make great friends. It’s very common for teams (players and

parents alike) to talk about their team in terms of ‘family’. It is this club approach that makes us better than the rest!

The following pages will breakdown everything that you can expect when becoming a part of the

Canton Soccer Club Select and Premier Program. We thank you for attending this year’s tryouts. If you have any questions, please look for

Peter Alexander, John O’Meara or Dan McEvilly at the registration tents.

Mission and Vision Statement

The Canton Soccer Club pledges to be a full service soccer organization dedicated to the growth and enrichment of its par-ticipating members within the game of soccer. We will strive for total player development in an environment that fosters individual confidence along with team success. These goals will be achieved through hard work, sacrifice, dedication and the complete commitment to every level of player from recreational to premier.

The mission of the Canton Soccer Club Select and Premier Program is to provide a positive and creative environment for the advanced players to improve their soccer skills. With top coaching, excellent facilities and a year round program each player will have the potential to reach his or her maximum level of performance all while learning the value of commit-ment, dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship.

The Canton Soccer Club will remain committed to being a leader within the soccer community. We will pursue opportuni-ties to strengthen and grow the club through our fields and facilities as well as our programs and staff. We will pursue these opportunities while being fiscally responsible to our members.

TRYOUT RULES1

Please make sure to pre-register for tryouts at cantonsoccerclub.com. Create an account (if you don’t already have a GotSoccer account) and keep your information on file as you will be required to login after tryouts. Please also upload a good profile pic-

ture of your player to be used for passcards. If you are “playing up” the system will automatically put you in the age appropriate division, but make sure to indicate that you are trying out at an older age group when you register.

2Notify the administrators of any medical conditions that may limit your son’s or daughter’s ability to tryout

3Parents/Guardians and spectators are required to stay away from the tryout areas. Parents are not allowed to talk to any of the coaches or evaluators during the tryout process. Please direct any questions you may have to the tryout adminis-trators in the registration tent. We firmly believe it is in your child’s best interest to be having fun, playing and showing

their skills without the pressure of having parents involved in the activities.

4All selections will be made as follows:

All U7 through U10 teams will be notified by phone within 24 hours of their final tryout. Rosters will then be posted on the web-site within 48 hours.

All U11 teams and above will be selected at the registration tent following their final tryout. Contracts will be signed at that point and you will receive the paperwork you need to complete prior to your teams organizational meeting that will take place

within the week following tryouts. Keep in mind that some age groups that have five or six teams that we may not be able to complete all teams at the end of Sunday’s tryout. In that case, we will go as far as we can and make calls to everyone we

couldn’t get to.

If your child is offered a position, you must be prepared to accept or decline at that point. A “maybe” answer is equivalent to a “no”.

5A non refundable commitment payment will also be due at the time your son/daughter is selected. Please

reference Player Dues on page 7 for the amount as it’s based on team age.

6The weekend following tryouts will be your team’s organizational meeting where you will fill out all the appropriate paperwork,

and if necessary get sized for your uniform and order extra gear such as bags, warm-ups or extra socks. If you cannot attend that meeting please let your coach know so that arrangements can be made to get all of the above completed ASAP.

7If your son/daughter is not selected, please email the club office at [email protected]

with your player’s name, age group and contact information for other team options.

WHAT’S NEW

STAY CONNECTED WITH SOCIAL MEDIAThis year we will be using social media to stay in contact with our membership as well as a monthly email newsletter. You will be seeing such things as:

•Teamupdates •TournamentAchievements •Contests •ParentEducationalArticlesandVideos •PlayerTechnicalVideos

We have always wanted to send you this information as it comes in, but it comes in several times a week and felt we would be bombarding you if it were via email. We feel this is a great avenue to keep everyone connected and informed without doing so …and hopefully fun and entertaining!!! We already have our FaceBook and Twitter set up so please “like us” and “follow us” @cantoncelticmi. Look for updates as we look to add other social media avenues.

TEAM FORMATSEach year we deal with league changes and this year is no different. Here is what format our teams will be playing this year: •U7-U8:6v6 •U9-U10:7v7 •U11-U12:9v9* •U13-U18:11v11

*Exception for the DA teams: the U11 Black will be playing 9v9 while the U12 Black will be playing 11v11.

CELTIC CELEBRATIONThis inaugural event was attended by over 300 people and it was awesome!. Look for us to do it again next year.

TEAM CAMP CAMP OUT (U7-U13)During team camp this year we are putting plans together to have the players camp out at Indy on the Thursday night (Aug 7th). We are going to have a “parents game” so all of the kids have the change to yell and scream all of your mistakes back at you and it will conclude with a pancake breakfast

OTHER EVENTS/PROGRAMSWe will be emailing you a short survey of possible events and winter programs we are looking to do. Each year all of the pro-grams sell out in no time and this will allow us the opportunity to plan (book indoor time) according to interest. Please look for it in the near future and please take the time to fill it out.

TEAM TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEHow would you like to know what tournaments your team is doing for the year before tryouts? Us too. We have asked all coaches to schedule their tournaments and those are available on the website under the tryout information. This is our first year doing it so I’m sure we’ll get better at it. Some teams didn’t have theirs, but most do. Keep in mind this is subject to change and your coach will go over it at your team meeting.

NEW U11-U14 DA/MRL PROGRAMOur black teams at the U11-U14 age groups will be doing an enhanced training program this year. This pilot program includes training three times per week, extra tournaments, futsal league and much more. These teams will be coached by Ian Jones, Andy Pritchard, Bill Joker and Jamie Scott and each one will only take two teams.

Uniforms

On behalf of Canton Soccer Club, Nike Soccer and Soccerworld, welcome to the 2014/2015 soccer season. We are in our second year of the uniform cycle so only new players, new teams need to purchase kits. However, keep in mind anyone can purchase new kits (new size, etc.) at any time. If you are needing a new size, now is the perfect time to order.

Mandatory Sizing Meeting for ALL NEW PLAYERS: The sizing meeting will take place at High Velocity Sports in Canton. The purpose of this meeting is to have players fitted for their uniform (jersey, shorts, warm ups, etc.) to order online. Below is the schedule for the meetings. Tuesday, June 17th and Wednesday, June 18th from 5:00-9:00pm (HV mini fields – upstairs).

Seasonal Girls Teams (U15-U18): All orders must be in by Thursday, June 19th in order to have them ready by August 1st.

UNIFORMS MUST BE ORDERED BY JUNE 23rd! The custom “hoops” jersey can take about six weeks to come in since the number and logo are sublimated into the jersey.

What to Expect:We will not be delivering any product at this sizing meeting. Players will order uniforms and any accessory gear such as backpacks, warm ups and spirit wear on-line after the sizing meeting. Once the uniform order is filled, each NEW team will have their full team order picked up by the coach or team manager at SoccerWorld. New players to existing teams will need to pick up their orders individually. Full tutorials will be available at the sizing meeting to help guide you through ordering.

If you have any questions you may email me at [email protected]

Best wishes for the coming year!

Through the years...

The annual Canton Cup tournament is by far the largest fundraiser that we con-duct as a club and once again this past memorial weekend was a great success. This year we hosted 650 teams attending from all over Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois and Canada.

This would never happen without the countless number of volunteers who put in countless of hours of time.

As you may have guessed this is where we ask for your help and support. It takes many, many volunteers to make this tournament a success year in and

year out and we get those volunteers through our Celtic players and families. Your coach will let you know what we need from each of you as we get closer to tournament time.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation
