1 Timothy 3:14-15

Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

1 Timothy 3:16

Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:

He appeared in a body,was vindicated by the Spirit,was seen by angels,was preached among the nations,was believed on in the world,was taken up in glory.

Paul writes instructions so that we might know how to CONDUCT ourselves in God’s household.

“As long as you live under my ROOF you will follow my RULES”

We are part of God’s HOUSEHOLD and that should mean something.

We are God’s household is ONE image used to describe the church.

Household by definition is a place where one DWELLS.

God dwells not in a building, but in the COMMUNITY of faith.

Ekklesia, translated “church,” literally means an ASSEMBLY.

As God’s household we are the FAMILY of the living God.

We are the “pillar and foundation of the TRUTH” (v15)

…each congregation is to safeguard the true TEACHING by its continuous witness.

Right BELIEF influences right BEHAVIOR.

To be a “pillar of truth” we must BELIEVE the truth.

LIVE the truth.
