The History Of Quran

The Qur’an represents the fountainhead of Divine guidance for every Muslim. Its revelation to the

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and his practical implementation

of the revelation, completed God’s blessing for humanity, in providing us with a belief and value system that is

valid for all times.

ContinuedIt is the last testament in a series of divine

revelations from God. It comprises the unaltered and direct words of God, revealed

through the Angel Gabriel, to the final Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him)

some 1400 years ago. Islam is a continuation of the teachings of previous Prophets, such as

Noah, Abraham, David, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them all), some of whom

were also given divine books.

It’s Key MessageThe key message brought by the Quran is to believe in One God and not to associate partners with Him, to stay away from sins and to lead a life devoted to earning God’s

pleasure. All Prophets taught about life after death and gave glad tidings of

paradise for those who obey God, but warned of punishment in hell for those who

choose to disobey Him.

How Is Quran Unique? The Quran is unique because:

• It is the only revealed book that exists today in the precise form and content in which it was originally revealed.

• It was actively recorded during the time the religion was being established.

• The distinctive approach of the Quran is that its spiritual message includes practical injunctions aimed at the general welfare of human beings, society and the environment in which we live.

• It’s message is eternal and universal, transcending our differences in race, color, ethnicity and nationality.

• It provides guidance on every aspect of human life – from economics and the ethics of trade to marriage, divorce, gender issues, inheritance, parenting etc.

• It neither condemns nor tortures the flesh nor does it neglect the soul.

• It does not humanize God, nor does it deify man.

Quran’s Impact On MarriageThe family is that brick which forms the foundation of a society. It is composed of individuals that have permanent relation established between them. Allah says in the Qur'an:

"Men are the supporters of women, because Allah has stowed on the one more than the other, and for what they have to provide (for them) from their sources. So the righteous women are obedient and protect in the absence of their husbands that which God ordains to be protected."(Qur'an 4:34)

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),

Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).

Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first

person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)].Has taught man that which he knew not.

[these are the first five verses of chapter no 96 of Quran]

Quran’s Impact On Gender Equality

According to the Qur’an, men and women have the same spiritual human nature:

• O mankind: Reverence your Guardian Lord Who created you from a single person created of like nature his mate and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; reverence Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights) and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you. (Qur’an 4:1).

• It is He who created you from a single person and made his mate of like nature in order that he might dwell with her (in love). When they are united she bears a light burden and carries it about (unnoticed). When she grows heavy they both pray to Allah their Lord (saying): “If You give us a goodly child we vow we shall (ever) be grateful.” (Qur’an 7:189)

• (He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him and He is the One that hears and sees (all things.) (Qur’an 42:11)

Quran’s Impact On Appearance

• "Say to the believing men that they cast down their glance and guard their private parts; that is purer for them . God is aware of the things

they do." (24:30)

• And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their zeenah (charms,

or beauty and ornaments) except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their khimar (veils) over their bosoms

and not display their zeenah except to their husbands, their fathers .... and that they should not strike their feet so as to draw attention to their

hidden zeenah (ornaments). (24:31-32)

There are many other beautiful and divine impacts of Quran on human life. Indeed Allah has sent the Quran for no other reason but to guide the mankind towards

success and victory. If we are Muslims, we should think of ourselves as the ‘blessed ones’ that He chose us and gave us a chance for such a beautiful and perfect religion

with no flaw what-so-ever, called Islam.
