WAITING FOR SUNRISEBy Titus Charo Kazungu

Page 2: Poem: Waiting for sunrise 01052014

Popping my drowsy eyes into the ocean of darknessOn my knees in cold muddled water I cry and tryHeart beating like the mighty African drumsWaiting for sunrise, what a surprise

Daily sunrise bringing sunshine to the soul of men Like potted plants near the window smiling with flowersWith sunrise fading hope is rekindled, darkness dwindlesThe sky shares the sun gladly rising beyond the clouds

Between twin hills in horizon mother appears with graceThe sight I marvel harnessing my inner strengthPressure building my breath held, scared of the futureDarkness comes and goes so does sunshine

We are tested in darkness, we rest in sunshineAt the end we are best perfected by life’s travailingAs we travel the journey full of tunnels unendingThe path unwinds and fresh winds begin to blow

Freshness like the dew of the morning joy is beckoningSunshine is coming please don’t whine lift your eyesWhen the heat begins to beat will you celebrateDarkness and sunshine are but sides of the same coin
