a man entered and greeted me, and I greeted him.The opening words are the genitive absolute. Since the participle is aorist, the sentence refers to action that took place prior to that of the main verb, hence the rendering after I prayed.18Question 16 ,

.Our fathers ate the manna in the desert,

just as it is written, bread from heaven he gave to them to eat.19Question 17a

these thingsthey did not knowhis disciples at first
