The finished work of Christ on the cross is something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained by the natural man…. except that we have been qualified by the gift of forgiveness which is grace.

God knew the substitute for our sins was adequate, acceptable, good enough and sufficient – The substitute was Him who new no sin.

Galatians 4:4-5 (New International Version)

But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.

Who was Jesus Christ?What qualified Him as a substitute

for our sins?



Matthew 3:17 (New International Version)

And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."




While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!"


He is our sanctuaryHe was personally Holy

He was treated as if he had committed the sinHis holiness and righteousness was credited to our account

Because our sin was credited to himHe was crushed and alienated

God poured out his wrath on himHis account with the father was closed temporarilyAnd he said “my God ..why hast thou forsaken me”

He was officially guiltyHe was saturated with sin and was forensically guilty


At the ninth hour the account of humanity was credited and God inputted his righteousness to us


About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi,[a] lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"[b]


1 Peter 1:19 (New International Version)

but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.


God knew what the qualifications were in the reconciliation plan for us to share in the inheritance of saints.

In His love God provided the sacrifice wonderfully, graciously, magnanimously and eagerly in order that he might redeem us from the sloppy, cluttered, chaotic life encompassed and muddled in sin

The Substitute for our sinWas him who knew no sin was offered as the gift of forgiveness.


What manner of man was he?

Jesus had no capacity to sin.. But he was made sin. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,


But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;


Isaiah 53:4-5 (New International Version)

4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (New International Version)

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.


At the ninth hour the son in the trinity profile was temporarily severed, separated, estranged, parted, disunited and sundered because of our sloppy sins. This however signalled the moment of our justification and the beacon of our reconciliation


Hence Jesus Christ said “It is finished..” He paid it all for us, there is no more sacrifice

Life Through the Spirit Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[a]

Benefits of Justification


Romans 8:15-17 (New International Version)

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

Benefits of Imputation


16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Benefits of Justification


Our fostering, adoption, our taking in or taking up of son ship is honoured , adored and adorned by the substitution in the ninth hour while he who knew no sin was unanchored with the rest of the trinity because of the sins of humanity which were inputted in him.

JOINT HEIRS WITH JESUS CHRIST

Acknowledge and confess him.....you shall be saved
