The Contented Life• Now there is great gain in godliness with
contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8
The Contented Life
• Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Matthew 6:25

Things Above
The Contented Life
• Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
The Contented Life
Solomon, the wisest and richest man who ever lived, said, “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 5:10)
Isaiah 55:1,2
• Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

Elisha’s Desire
• In 2 Kings Chapter 2, Elijah was about to be taken up to heaven, Elisha went along with him to Gilgal. Elijah told Elisha to stay in Gilgal, as he was going to Bethel. Elisha said, "No. I am coming with you." At Bethel, Elijah again told Elisha to stay there, since he was going to Jericho. Elisha again replied, "No. I am going with you.” Elijah then went to Jordan. Elisha went with him.
Elisha’s Desire
• When they came to the river Jordan, Elijah struck the water, opened up the river and both of them walked across. Then Elijah asked Elisha, "Why have you been following me? What do you want?” Elisha however said, "I want a double portion of your spirit." He did not want anything else in the world. He wanted the anointing of the Spirit that rested on Elijah. That's why he had followed after Elijah.
Elisha’s Desire Granted
• God blessed Elisha with double portion of Elijah’s anointing.
• Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:31
Elisha’s Desire Granted
• Be like Elisha who pressed on to God's best in his generation. He got a double portion of the anointing because he persisted. And he did twice the number of miracles that Elijah had done for the glory of God! He never wanted anything for himself, he lived a content life and lived a abundant life!
