ਸੁਣਿਐ ਣਸਧ ਪੀਰ ਸੁਣਰ ਨਾਥ ॥ Listening-the Siddhas, the spiritual teachers, the heroic warriors, the yogic masters. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਧਰਣਿ ਧਵਲ ਆਕਾਸ ॥ Listening-the earth, its support and the Akaashic ethers. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੀਪ ਲੋਅ ਪਾਿਾਲ ॥

Listening-the oceans, the lands of the world and the nether regions of the underworld. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਪੋਣਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕਾਲੁ ॥ Listening-Kall cannot even touch you. ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਿਾ ਸਦਾ ਣਵਗਾਸੁ ॥ O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੮॥ Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||8||

ਸੁਣਿਐ ਈਸਰੁ ਬਰਮਾ ਇੰਦੁ ॥ Listening-Shiva, Brahma and Indra. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਮੁਣਖ ਸਾਲਾਿਿ ਮੰਦੁ ॥ Listening-even foul-mouthed people praise Him. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਣਿ ਿਣਨ ਭੇਦ ॥ Listening-the technology of Yoga and the secrets of the body. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਾਸਿ ਣਸਣਮਿਣਿ ਵੇਦ ॥ Listening-the Shaastras, the Simritees and the Vedas. ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਿਾ ਸਦਾ ਣਵਗਾਸੁ ॥ O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੮॥ Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||9||

ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਿੁ ਸੰਿਖੋੁ ਣਗਆਨੁ ॥ Listening-truth, contentment and spiritual wisdom. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅਠਸਣਠ ਕਾ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥ Listening-take your cleansing bath at the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਪਣਿ ਪਣਿ ਪਾਵਣਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ Listening-reading and reciting, honor is obtained. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਿਣਜ ਣਧਆਨੁ ॥

Listening-intuitively grasp the essence of meditation. ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਿਾ ਸਦਾ ਣਵਗਾਸੁ ॥ O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧੦॥ Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||10||

ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਰਾ ਗੁਿਾ ਕੇ ਗਾਿ ॥ Listening-dive deep into the ocean of virtue. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸੇਖ ਪੀਰ ਪਾਣਿਸਾਿ ॥ Listening-the Shaykhs, religious scholars, spiritual teachers and emperors. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅੰਧੇ ਪਾਵਣਿ ਰਾਿੁ ॥ Listening-even the blind find the Path. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਿਾਥ ਿਵੋੈ ਅਸਗਾਿੁ ॥ Listening-the Unreachable comes within your grasp. ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਿਾ ਸਦਾ ਣਵਗਾਸੁ ॥ O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss. ਸੁਣਿਐ ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧੧॥ Listening-pain and sin are erased. ||11|

Now is the time

No one like to work hard. You will die, Work hard.

Those who work on Naam?

• Can’t be described

• Can’t be bound by words.

• Have intuitive awareness and intelligence

• Know about all worlds and realms.

• Never be struck across the face

• Do not have to go with the Messenger of Death

• Depart with honor and fame

• Don’t follow empty religious rituals

• Firmly bound to the Dharma.

• Find the Door of Liberation

• Uplift and redeem their family and relations

• Path shall never be blocked

• Saved and carried across with the Sikhs of the Guru

• Do not wander around begging

ਮੰਨੇ ਕੀ ਗਣਿ ਕਿੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ The state of the faithful cannot be described.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਿੈ ਣਪਛੈ ਪਛੁਿਾਇ ॥ One who tries to describe this shall regret the attempt.

ਕਾਗਣਦ ਕਲਮ ਨ ਣਲਖਿਿਾਰੁ ॥ No paper, no pen, no scribe

ਮੰਨੇ ਕਾ ਬਣਿ ਕਰਣਨ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ can record the state of the faithful.

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਣਨਰੰਜਨੁ ਿੋਇ ॥ Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਣਨ ਜਾਿੈ ਮਣਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੨॥ Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||12||

ਮੰਨੈ ਸੁਰਣਿ ਿੋਵੈ ਮਣਨ ਬੁਣਧ ॥ The faithful have intuitive awareness and intelligence. ਮੰਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਣਧ ॥ The faithful know about all worlds and realms. ਮੰਨੈ ਮੁਣਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਇ ॥ The faithful shall never be struck across the face. ਮੰਨੈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਸਾਣਥ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

The faithful do not have to go with the Messenger of Death. ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਣਨਰੰਜਨੁ ਿੋਇ ॥

Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord. ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਣਨ ਜਾਿੈ ਮਣਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੩॥ Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||13||

ਮੰਨੈ ਮਾਰਣਗ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ The path of the faithful shall never be blocked. ਮੰਨੈ ਪਣਿ ਣਸਉ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ The faithful shall depart with honor and fame. ਮੰਨੈ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਪੰਥੁ ॥ The faithful do not follow empty religious rituals. ਮੰਨੈ ਧਰਮ ਸਿੇੀ ਸਨਬੰਧ ੁ॥ The faithful are firmly bound to the Dharma. ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮ ੁਣਨਰੰਜਨੁ ਿੋਇ ॥ Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord. ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਣਨ ਜਾਿੈ ਮਣਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੪॥ Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||14||

How do you purify the mind

Listen, Work do it with Love.

ਿੀਰਥੁ ਿਪੁ ਦਇਆ ਦਿੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ Pilgrimages, austere discipline, compassion and charity -

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਣਿਲ ਕਾ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ these, by themselves, bring only an iota of merit.

ਸੁਣਿਆ ਮੰਣਨਆ ਮਣਨ ਕੀਿਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ Listening and believing with love and humility in your mind,

ਅੰਿਰਗਣਿ ਿੀਰਣਥ ਮਣਲ ਨਾਉ ॥ cleanse yourself with the Name, at the sacred shrine deep within.

ਸਣਭ ਗਿੁ ਿੇਰੇ ਮੈ ਨਾਿੀ ਕਇੋ ॥ All virtues are Yours, Lord, I have none at all.

ਣਵਿੁ ਗੁਿ ਕੀਿੇ ਭਗਣਿ ਨ ਿੋਇ ॥ Without virtue, there is no devotional worship.

ਸੁਅਸਣਿ ਆਣਥ ਬਾਿੀ ਬਰਮਾਉ ॥ I bow to the Lord of the World, to His Word, to Brahma the Creator.

ਸਣਿ ਸੁਿਾਿੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਣਨ ਚਾਉ ॥ He is Beautiful, True and Eternally Joyful.

The Planet is Dharma

This earth was made for Dharma. What is your Dharama?

ਰਾਿੀ ਰੁਿੀ ਣਥਿੀ ਵਾਰ ॥ Nights, days, weeks and seasons;

ਪਵਿ ਪਾਿੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਿਾਲ ॥ wind, water, fire and the nether regions -

ਣਿਸੁ ਣਵਣਚ ਧਰਿੀ ਥਾਣਪ ਰਖੀ ਧਰਮ ਸਾਲ ॥ in the midst of these, He established the earth as a home for Dharma.

ਣਿਸੁ ਣਵਣਚ ਜੀਅ ਜੁਗਣਿ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥ Upon it, He placed the various species of beings.

ਣਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਿ ॥ Their names are uncounted and endless.

ਕਰਮੀ ਕਰਮੀ ਿੋਇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ By their deeds and their actions, they shall be judged.

ਸਚਾ ਆਣਪ ਸਚਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥ God Himself is True, and True is His Court.

ਣਿਥੈ ਸੋਿਣਨ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਿੁ ॥ In that court sit the five shabads.

ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਣਮ ਪਵੈ ਨੀਸਾਿੁ ॥ They receive the Mark of Grace from the Merciful Lord.

ਕਚ ਪਕਾਈ ਓਥੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ The ripe and the unripe, the good and the bad, shall there be judged.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗਇਆ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੪॥ O Nanak, when you go home, you will see this. ||34||

ਧਰਮ ਖੰਡ ਕਾ ਏਿੋ ਧਰਮੁ ॥ This is righteous living in the realm of Dharma

ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਿਿੁ ਨਾਮ ਅਰਾਧੂ ॥ meditate in adoration on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the essence of karma and Dharma.

ਇਿੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਿੈ ਣਜਸੁ ਅੰਦਣਰ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਣਵਣਚ ਜੋਣਿ ॥ This body is the home of Dharma; the Divine Light of the True Lord is within it.

ਨਾਮੁ ਣਦਿਿਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਿਾ ਕਾ ਜੁਗ ਮਣਿ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੧॥ He implants the Naam, and inspires us to chant the Naam; this is Dharma, true religion, in this world. ||1||

ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਿ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥

The chosen ones, the self-elect, are accepted and approved.

ਪੰਚੇ ਪਾਵਣਿ ਦਰਗਣਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ The chosen ones are honored in the Court of the Lord.

ਪੰਚੇ ਸੋਿਣਿ ਦਣਰ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥ The chosen ones look beautiful in the courts of kings.

ਪੰਚਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਣਧਆਨੁ ॥

The chosen ones meditate single-mindedly on the Guru.

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਿੈ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

No matter how much anyone tries to explain and describe them,

ਕਰਿੇ ਕੈ ਕਰਿੈ ਨਾਿੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥ the actions of the Creator cannot be counted.

ਧੌਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੂਿੁ ॥ The mythical bull is Dharma, the son of compassion; ਸੰਿੋਖੁ ਥਾਣਪ ਰਣਖਆ ਣਜਣਨ ਸੂਣਿ ॥

this is what patiently holds the earth in its place. ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਝੁੈ ਿਵੋੈ ਸਣਚਆਰੁ ॥

One who understands this becomes truthful. ਧਵਲੈ ਉਪਣਰ ਕਿੇਾ ਭਾਰੁ ॥ What a great load there is on the bull! ਧਰਿੀ ਿਰੋੁ ਪਰੈ ਿੋਰੁ ਿਰੋੁ ॥ So many worlds beyond this world-so very many! ਣਿਸ ਿੇ ਭਾਰੁ ਿਲੈ ਕਵਿੁ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ What power holds them, and supports their weight? ਜੀਅ ਜਾਣਿ ਰੰਗਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਵ ॥ The names and the colors of the assorted species of beings ਸਭਨਾ ਣਲਣਖਆ ਵੁਿੀ ਕਲਾਮ ॥ were all inscribed by the Ever-flowing Pen of God

ਕੀਿਾ ਪਸਾਉ ਏਕ ੋਕਵਾਉ ॥ You created the vast expanse of the Universe with One Word! ਣਿਸ ਿੇ ਿੋਏ ਲਖ ਦਰੀਆਉ ॥ Hundreds of thousands of rivers began to flow. ਕੁਦਰਣਿ ਕਵਿ ਕਿਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ How can Your Creative Potency be described? ਵਾਣਰਆ ਨ ਜਾਵਾ ਏਕ ਵਾਰ ॥ I cannot even once be a sacrifice to You. ਜੋ ਿੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥ Whatever pleases You is the only good done, ਿੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਣਿ ਣਨਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੧੬॥ You, Eternal and Formless One! ||16||

ਏਿੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਣਲਣਖ ਜਾਿੈ ਕਇੋ ॥ Who knows how to write this account? ਲੇਖਾ ਣਲਣਖਆ ਕਿੇਾ ਿੋਇ ॥ Just imagine what a huge scroll it would take! ਕੇਿਾ ਿਾਿੁ ਸੁਆਣਲਿੁ ਰੂਪੁ ॥ What power! What fascinating beauty! ਕੇਿੀ ਦਾਣਿ ਜਾਿੈ ਕੌਿੁ ਕੂਿੁ ॥ And what gifts! Who can know their extent?

Knowledge

Begins at Naad.

ਣਗਆਨ ਖੰਡ ਕਾ ਆਖਿੁ ਕਰਮੁ ॥

And now we speak of the realm of spiritual wisdom.

ਕੇਿੇ ਪਵਿ ਪਾਿੀ ਵੈਸੰਿਰ ਕੇਿੇ ਕਾਨ ਮਿੇਸ ॥

So many winds, waters and fires; so many Krishnas and Shivas.

ਕੇਿੇ ਬਰਮੇ ਘਾਿਣਿ ਘਿੀਅਣਿ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਵੇਸ ॥

So many Brahmas, fashioning forms of great beauty, adorned and dressed in many colors.

ਕੇਿੀਆ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮੀ ਮੇਰ ਕੇਿੇ ਕੇਿੇ ਧੂ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥

So many worlds and lands for working out karma. So very many lessons to be learned!

ਕੇਿੇ ਇੰਦ ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰ ਕੇਿੇ ਕੇਿੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਦੇਸ ॥

So many Indras, so many moons and suns, so many worlds and lands.

ਕੇਿੇ ਣਸਧ ਬੁਧ ਨਾਥ ਕੇਿੇ ਕੇਿੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਵੇਸ ॥

So many Siddhas and Buddhas, so many Yogic masters. So many goddesses of various kinds.

ਕੇਿੇ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਮੁਣਨ ਕੇਿੇ ਕੇਿੇ ਰਿਨ ਸਮੁੰ ਦ ॥

So many demi-gods and demons, so many silent sages. So many oceans of jewels.

ਕੇਿੀਆ ਖਾਿੀ ਕੇਿੀਆ ਬਾਿੀ ਕੇਿੇ ਪਾਿ ਨਣਰੰਦ ॥

So many ways of life, so many languages. So many dynasties of rulers.

ਕੇਿੀਆ ਸੁਰਿੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇਿੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਿੁ ਨ ਅੰਿੁ ॥੩੫॥

So many intuitive people, so many selfless servants. O Nanak, His limit has no limit! ||35||

ਣਗਆਨ ਖੰਡ ਮਣਿ ਣਗਆਨੁ ਪਰਚੰਡੁ ॥

In the realm of wisdom, spiritual wisdom reigns supreme.

ਣਿਥੈ ਨਾਦ ਣਬਨੋਦ ਕੋਡ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥

The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates there, amidst the sounds and the sights of bliss.

Where is the Gate?

Where there is Praise. Where there is Naad.

ਸੋ ਦਰੁ ਕੇਿਾ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਕੇਿਾ ਣਜਿ ੁਬਣਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥

Where is that Gate, and where is that Dwelling, in which You sit and take care of all?

ਵਾਜੇ ਨਾਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਸੰਖਾ ਕੇਿੇ ਵਾਵਿਿਾਰੇ ॥

The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates there, and countless musicians play on all sorts of instruments there.

ਕੇਿੇ ਰਾਗ ਪਰੀ ਣਸਉ ਕਿੀਅਣਨ ਕੇਿੇ ਗਾਵਿਿਾਰੇ ॥

So many Ragas, so many musicians singing there.

ਗਾਵਣਿ ਿੁਿਨੋ ਪਉਿੁ ਪਾਿੀ ਬੈਸੰਿਰੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥

The praanic wind, water and fire sing; the Righteous Judge of Dharma sings at Your Door.

ਗਾਵਣਿ ਣਚਿੁ ਗੁਪਿੁ ਣਲਣਖ ਜਾਿਣਿ ਣਲਣਖ ਣਲਣਖ ਧਰਮ ੁਵੀਚਾਰ ੇ॥

Chitr and Gupt, the angels of the conscious and the subconscious who record actions, and the Righteous Judge of Dharma who judges this record sing.

ਗਾਵਣਿ ਈਸਰ ੁਬਰਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੋਿਣਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥

Shiva, Brahma and the Goddess of Beauty, ever adorned, sing.

ਗਾਵਣਿ ਇੰਦ ਇਦਾਸਣਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਦੇਵਣਿਆ ਦਣਰ ਨਾਲੇ ॥

Indra, seated upon His Throne, sings with the deities at Your Door.

ਗਾਵਣਿ ਣਸਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਦਣਰ ਗਾਵਣਨ ਸਾਧ ਣਵਚਾਰੇ ॥

The Siddhas in Samaadhi sing; the Saadhus sing in contemplation.

ਬੀਸ ਣਬਸਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਣਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ ਸੋ ਸਣਿਗੁਰੁ ਣਜਸੁ ਣਰਦੈ ਿਣਰ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਅਣਨਕ ਬਾਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਣਲ ਜਾਉ ॥ਸਰਬ ਣਨਧਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਿਾ ॥ਆਠ ਪਿਰ ਪਾਰਬਿਿਮ ਰੰਣਗ ਰਾਿਾ ॥ਬਿਿਮ ਮਣਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਨ ਮਣਿ ਪਾਰਬਿਿਮੁ ॥ਏਕਣਿ ਆਣਪ ਨਿੀ ਕਛੁ ਭਰਮੁ ॥ ਸਿਸ ਣਸਆਨਪ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥

One who obeys the Guru's Teachings one hundred per cent - that selfless servant comes to know the state of the Transcendent Lord. The True Guru's Heart is filled with the Name of the Lord. So many times, I am a sacrifice to the Guru. He is the treasure of everything, the Giver of life. Twenty-four hours a day, He is imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God. The servant is in God, and God is in the servant. He Himself is One - there is no doubt about this. By thousands of clever tricks, He is not found. O Nanak, such a Guru is obtained by the greatest good fortune. ||3||

ਜਿੁ ਪਾਿਾਰਾ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਸੁਣਨਆਰੁ ॥ Let self-control be the furnace, and patience the goldsmith. ਅਿਰਣਿ ਮਣਿ ਵੇਦੁ ਿਥੀਆਰੁ ॥ Let understanding be the anvil, and spiritual wisdom the tools.

ਭਉ ਖਲਾ ਅਗਣਨ ਿਪ ਿਾਉ ॥

With the Fear of God as the bellows, fan the flames of tapa, the body's inner heat. ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭਾਉ ਅੰਣਮਿਿੁ ਣਿਿੁ ਢਾਣਲ ॥

In the crucible of love, melt the Nectar of the Name,

ਘਿੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ॥ ਣਜਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਣਰ ਕਰਮੁ ਣਿਨ ਕਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਣਰ ਣਨਿਾਲ ॥੩੮॥ and mint the True Coin of the Shabad, the Word of God. Such is the karma of those upon whom He has cast His Glance of Grace. O Nanak, the Merciful Lord, by His Grace, uplifts and exalts them. ||38||
