God Pitched His Tent Among Us

John1:14a And the Word became flesh, and dwelt

among us

Jesus (The Word) is the Creator (John

1:1-5).

John teaches us that Jesus is the Creator

• Jesus was before creation• Jesus was with God at the creation

Hebrews 1:1-3 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, (2) in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. (3) And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.

Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (16) For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him. (17) He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together

John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (4) In Him Was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.

If Jesus is God and God (the Father) is God, doesn’t that

mean that there are two Gods?

NO! The Bible teaches that there is a plurality within the Godhead, but

that there is only one God.

The plurality of God is taught in Genesis

• The name of the Creator, Elohim is plural. Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.


• The name of the Creator, Elohim is plural. • The Father, Son and Spirit are present.

– The plurality of the name – The activity of the Spirit

Gen. 1:2 …And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters

• The creation of man (Adam) points to the plurality of God– A plurality within the Godhead made man.

Genesis 1:26-29 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

declared in the plural (Adam is male and female).

Gen. 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Gen. 2:23,24 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." (24) For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

• The Bible has many more declarations that Jesus is the God of Creation. It is a

primary theme of John’s Gospel. For time sake we will mention just two more. Both

are from John, chapter 1.

John the Apostles declares that Jesus is God

John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time; the

only begotten

God who is in the bosom of the Father,

He has explained

Him.

John the Baptist implies that Jesus is GodJohn 1:15 John

testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He

of whom I said, 'He who comes after

me has a higher rank

than I, for He existed before

me.'"

It would be enough to simply be the Creator, but the amazing, and for some people, unbelievable, is that the Creator would come to live with

us.

The Creator entered the World to save the World he had created

God sent John the Baptist to prepare the world for the light.

• John 1:6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.

(7) He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all

might believe through him. (8) He was not the Light, but he came to

testify about the Light.

Jesus - the Word and Light - of the world made his presence known to the world.

• He is the light of all people. John 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

• He came to Israel (his own people), But they didn’t receive him (they rejected him).

John 1:11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him

The World He created didn’t

recognize Him. His own family

rejected him with the rest of the

world.

So, the creator began a new family

All the people that received (take hold of, believe in) him (whether Jew or non Jew), Jesus gave

them the privilege to be Children of God. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His

name,

If we don’t become children of God by being born into the right family, or by

keeping God’s rules, or by acts of the our will, how do

we become children of God?

It is of God.John 1:13 who were

So

So then, How Do I become a child of God?

To become one of the Children of God we must be obedient to

God and receive – believe – in

His Son.

As many as received Him, to

them He gave the right to

become children of God, even to

those who believe in His

name,

• The creator pitched his tent among us• The world did not know him• His own people did not receive him• The world nailed him to a cross.• Everyone that does receive him, Jew and

Gentile, He has given the privilege to be children of God.

There once was an old man…

“Father, forgive them for they know not what they have done”

Will you receive Him? Accept His
