Exodus 4:3, It Became A Serpent

• Not, “Behold, there was a serpent.”• That would allow for magic.• 40 years as a shepherd, it must have been

poisonous.

• Exodus 4:5 "that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.“

• God is giving reasons for His actions again.• He doesn’t not have to explain Himself to

anybody! But He is gracious.• As a father I’ve said, “Because I said so!”

perfected in weakness.• He even used Peter (3 X’s denied Christ), and James and John the

"Sons of Thunder,” (Mark 3:17) to patiently and lovingly build the early church.

• So rather than looking at your strengths or weaknesses, look to God, and humbly say “Yes LORD”, then get to work.

• Exodus 4:25 Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin and threw it at Moses' feet, and she said, "You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me.“

• Some think that she was the reason they were not already circumcised, and that she did it to save Moses' life.

• “her son's foreskin” is singular in both Hebrew and Greek texts. I’m betting that she cut both, and only threw one.

Exodus 5:1, the LORD, the God of Israel

• So when people say that “Allah” is just the Arabic word meaning “God”, you might want clarify things by suggesting the use of the personal names God uses of Himself in the Bible.

• Wikipedia says, “The term Allāh is derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article al- "the" and ilāh "deity, god" to al-lāh meaning "the [sole] deity, God…”

• So, if we’re discussing the one, true God who created heaven and earth, and everything in it, as described in the Bible (not Molech or Baal). Why not use the personal names God uses of Himself in the Bible, “the LORD, the God of Israel” or “the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

• Exodus 5:3 Then they said, "The God of the Hebrews…

Exodus 5:5 Deuteronomy 5:3, Seventh Day Adventist, The Clear Word Bible

• Question: Some Seventh day Adventist friends have what they call "The Clear Word Bible." Something doesn't sound quite right, and it looks like verses have been changed to support their teachings.Response: We would agree with your concerns about the Clear Word Bible. One doesn't have to go through much of this version to determine that words have been added or meanings changed in order to "more clearly" support their particular teachings….

• Consider Exodus 5:5: "And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens" (KJV).

• The Clear Word Bible: "You've created enough problems by making them rest every week on your Sabbath...." Pharaoh is made to be complaining about the Jews keeping the Sabbath prior to the Law! In truth, this passage says nothing about keeping the Sabbath, and this twisting of Scriptures removes the meaning from this passage of Holy Scripture. From the context, it is clear that Pharaoh is the one adding to the burden of the Jews…. GotQuestions.org

that formed the eye, shall he not see?”• The eye is a chemical and technological wonder. It would take thousands of carefully directed mutations for an eyeless

creature to develop sight. And since a partial eye doesn’t provide sight, each of these thousands of mutations would offer no advantage to the creature.

• The fact is, of course, that mutations don’t happen this way. All the true mutations we know about have harmed rather than helped the creature with the mutation. This fact places the thought of thousands of positive mutations in a row outside the realm of scientifically reasonable consideration. In addition, neither living nor known fossil animals show any evidence of gradual development of eyes. Therefore, the most reasonable scientific conclusion is that there is a Creator Who designed and created the eye.

• The lens of the eye is a marvel of chemistry. It is made up of a concentration of protein molecules inside water-lined cells. When scientists learned this, they were amazed. Protein molecules in water are not transparent, as the lens must be. After more research, they discovered God’s secret. The high concentration of protein molecules in the lens of the eye causes the proteins to pack together something like the molecules of window glass. As a result, the normally opaque protein solution in the lens becomes transparent.

• The eye does more damage to ideas about origins that leave out God than almost any other feature of the creation because it allows us to see the Creator’s fingerprints all around us!

Exodus 5:5 Deuteronomy 5:3, Seventh Day Adventist, The Clear Word Bible

• Question: Some Seventh day Adventist friends have what they call "The Clear Word Bible." Something doesn't sound quite right, and it looks like verses have been changed to support their teachings.

Response: We would agree with your concerns about the Clear Word Bible. One doesn't have to go through much of this version to determine that words have been added or meanings changed in order to "more clearly" support their particular teachings.

• For example, Deuteronomy 5:3 in the KJV reads, "The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day." In this passage, Moses is stating that the Sabbath Day was given by God to a named people (the Jews) as part of the Mosaic Law. This verse reads the same in all alternate translations that we consulted (NIV, NASB, ESV, NLT, etc.).

• The same verse from the SDA paraphrase (the Clear Word Bible) reads, "It wasn't only with our ancestors that He made a covenant, but with us and with all who are alive today." It is clear to see that the meaning of the passage has been changed. There is a reason. Many SDAs believe that those who came before--Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the patriarchs--all kept the Sabbath. So, Jack Blanco, who produced the Clear Word Bible, changed "not with our fathers" [did He make a covenant] to "It wasn't only with our ancestors that He made a covenant...." This is clearly wresting the Word of God.

• Consider Exodus 5:5: "And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens" (KJV).• The Clear Word Bible: "You've created enough problems by making them rest every week on your Sabbath...." Pharaoh is made to be complaining about the Jews

keeping the Sabbath prior to the Law! In truth, this passage says nothing about keeping the Sabbath, and this twisting of Scriptures removes the meaning from this passage of Holy Scripture. From the context, it is clear that Pharaoh is the one adding to the burden of the Jews.

• SDAs have historically gone through a "purging" process every few decades or so. The last major one was in the 1980s, when many theologians, pastors, and members left when Ellen G. White's plagiarism was highlighted and the governing body nonetheless issued the directive to recognize the "spirit of prophecy" (i.e., Ellen G. White's status as a prophet) and submit.

• In SDA President Ted Wilson's inaugural sermon he chastized those who don't emphasize the Sabbath and those who speak against "the spirit of prophecy." In his address "Go Forward" (General Conference Sabbath Sermon from July 3, 2010), he emphasized the "correct way" to interpret Scriptures: "hold your leaders, pastors, local churches, educators, [et al.] accountable to the highest standards of belief based on a literal understanding of Scripture. Utilize wonderful resources such as the Biblical Research Institute's new book on hermeneutics that helps us know the correct way to interpret the Scriptures."

• Again we read in Selected Messages, Book 1 (by Ellen G. White), on p. 170, "Do not overstrain the meaning of sentences in the Bible in an effort to bring forth something odd in order to please the fancy. Take the Scriptures as they read."

• • The irony of this is that many SDA doctrines, such as the Investigative Judgment, do not take the Scriptures as they are read. With the "Clear Word" Bible, there has

been some "wresting" that slants the verses in this paraphrase towards particular doctrines of SDAs.• GotQuestions.org
