Jerusalem Quit Listening
• Jeremiah pleaded: “I cannot hold my peace”-Jer.4:19-22– “They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have
no knowledge”-Jer.4:22b– They refused to go back to God’s “old paths” –ch.6– They tuned out God’s prophets and turned against
them– They could not “endure sound doctrine” -1

The Babylonian Invasion
• Jerusalem afterwards– Lamenting the destroyed city – Lam.1:1– There was no good future, just memories of how
it used to be – 1:7 (What could have been).– “She did not consider her destiny”-1:9– It had been called “The joy of the whole earth” -
2:15• But, not any more!
What Can Be Done Now?
• Pour out your heart to God– Pray like never before -2:19
• Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord – 3:40,41
• “Turn us back to you, O Lord,• “Renew our days as of old” –Lam.5:15-22
The Glory Days Can Return
• We can build up the glory of the Lord’s house here
• One spiritual stone at a time• The glory can return when the glory of God is
inside YOU• If the glory has departed, who is responsible?
