DESCRIPTION

At Esri UK Annual Conference 2014 Recent eruptions in Iceland, in 2010 and 2011, produced volcanic ash clouds that blew across the British Isles and northern Europe, causing widespread disruption to air travel. As a direct response to these eruptions, the British Geological Survey, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, has developed myVolcano as a tool for ‘citizen science’. myVolcano is a crowdsourcing app that enables you to share your photographs and descriptions of volcanic hazards, as well as collecting samples and measurements of volcanic ash fall, directly helping scientists to gather vital new information about volcanic eruptions.
