After several challenges and multiple interruptions, The Affordable Care Act (ACA) represents the most extensive U.S. healthcare legislation in decades. Large employers face substantial new reporting requirements by January 1, 2015, and the data stored in InfinityHR will play a crucial role in meeting those demands.

With these reporting milestones approaching, it is critical for employers to understand the affects the law has on their business. The most burdensome obligation for most employers is the requirement referred to as “Pay or Play.”

Pay or Play: DefinedPay or Play refers to the ACA’s requirement that employers with at least 50 full-time employees (including “full-time equivalent” employees) offer essentially all “full-time” employees the opportunity to enroll in affordable “minimum essential coverage” or face penalties, initially slated to take effect 2014, but now postponed by the Obama Administration until 2015.

• Full-time/part-time counts for all employees, which can be broken into specific organizational levels such as locations, departments or cost centers.
