A music magazine focuses on one genre of music and contains information and articles about that type of music along with the artists that sing with that genre. A music magazine informs entertains and sometimes educates depending on what genre of music it is. You can see just by looking at the front cover what type of genre of music the magazine includes with the help of the images and fonts used

What is a music magazine?

In a music magazine you would expect to find articles or interviews on a band or singer. It could include stories about artists new releases or gossip on an artists inside life. Top downloads of this week could also be included into the content of a music magazine. In a more informative music magazine you could find articles on instruments.

What content would you expect to find in a music magazine?

Images of festivals/ concerts that are upcoming events

Pictures of bands or singers that have new album releases or are new into the industry

Pictures of bands/singers that are being interviewed in the magazine

Props in pictures such as instruments or a microphone

New album front covers

What images would you expect to find in a music magazine?

Picture of main band/singer on the front cover and a main story based on them

New album releases and interviews with celebrity singers

Masthead in a font to denote a certain music genre

Cover lines to inform the audience of what content is inside

Rule of thirds – the main front cover picture in the hot spot to attract audience

Group shots of bands, different camera shots of singers (close up, medium close up, medium long shot, long shot)
