The challenge is to invent how to spread the best practices all over the country. Purpose is to build a structure that would make it easier for volunteers to participate, arrange activity, and reach young adults.

The idea is to build a structure which would offer flexible possibilities to explore and participate. The goal is to support Young Adults to activate and organize together meaningful activity. In action there is utilized both peer support and more experienced volunteers. The goal is to proceed encountering between different people.

How to advance Young Adults’ inexpensive hobby activities, peer support and encountering?

When the outbreak of refugees reached Finland, many Finns asked how can they help asylum seekers as volunteers.

Different municipalities organized collections of clothes, hobby activities and home accommodation. Some of volunteers were disappointed when it appeared that every asylum seekers centrum doesn´t utilize the support that the volunteers offered.

Flexible structures make possible to move between different parts. Young adult can start as a participant of activity and later to become organizer. It´s important to create structures which make it easier for example to finance and acquire suitable places, i.e. how to negotiate with municipalities how to book football arena.

3. Challenge of Students’ Career Mentoring

Many students wonder if they are studying the right field/subject. They might wonder if they can be employed after graduation or what the job possibilities are.

They can also wonder about their own well-being in work. Is the field too heavy? What kind of people have energy to do this kind of work?

The support which is offered varies in different schools. In practice, students can be left alone with this. This can lead to weakening of study motivation and can there fore interrupt their studies and resulting in having difficulties in finding their own place

The challenge is to develop a structure with which students could have support to their career thinking from an experienced mentor and/or from each other.

Mentoring is supposed to support students to resolve the situation in a way that he/she can find his own place in studying and work career.

Because the structure would be virtual, the mentor and the student can live in different areas in Finland. Mentoring could be only a single conversation. If agreed, it could be dated for a longer period.
