SEO means Search Engine Optimization which targets many tasks but Google updates algorithm every time to give new challenges to SEO. Recently Panda, Penguin, Pigeon and Humming bird these may sound like species living in captivity but they are the algorithm updates of Google which came in effect and brought lots of changes in SEO and its work.

Each time a new algorithm update is announced, the SEO world goes into upheaval mode. For example 2011 Panda update affected 12% of global searches. The internet properties which depend on Google queries to drive traffic to sites due to updates can be disastrous.

Recently also new update arrived which is codenamed Pigeon not the official name .This name is chosen as it targets local search algorithm update. It means SEO should be ready for new impact which is local search queries actually we can say that this is good news for small business owner. If someone searches local restaurants then will now see Google SERP which truly lists all.

Likewise Humming bird was also good for internet searchers because it provide quality by speeding up queries along with specific answers to questions posted.As these update says that Google algorithm update is good but this is not always true sometimes the update is negative which affects badly search results of SEO. So, these birds are good as well as bad.

Till now different updates came and they left with us some important things to be followed so that it do not affect SEO activities performed few are High PR websites for submission, proper keyword research, no duplicate content etc.
