HARDWARE TO FACILITATE
RAPID LEARNING Hardware I personally use to keep organised, on
tract and on priority when Rapid Learning.

Your most important physical asset whilst Rapid Learning is a priority sheet. This can be stuck up on the wall in front of you, on a big whiteboard in your room or tattooed to your
eye lids.
The point is, for every task that you do, you need to take a look at your priority list and ask yourself –
WILL DOING THIS MOVE ME TOWARDS SOMETHING
IMPORTANT?

If the answer is ‘meh, I’m not sure…’ then –
DO NOT DO IT

Next up is a way to store your notes and additional materials. You generally have two options here –
1) Paper filing system - The benefit of this method is that it’s super easy to grab hold of things and it discourages you of hoarding information that is either irrelevant or that you’re
never going to use (try David Allens – GTD method).
2) Online / computer filing system – The main benefit is that it can be with you where ever you are and that you can search
quickly and easily through it (try Evernote.com)

The next point might be slightly controversial but I 100% recommend
using real, paper books and not ebooks to learn from.
The reason why is simple. You can post-it note the crap out of them.

This is literally the book on my desk as I write this slide (SMART DRUGS II) with my post it notes all over the important parts that I want to remember and learn from.

Out of every method I’ve tried, nothing has beaten the ability to dive to my bookshelf, search through the 10-20 bookmarks and
notes that I’ve stuck in via post-it to find and reference the information I need quickly.

Additionally, when you read something and then write it down – by hand – something magical happens.
Your RAS (reticular activating system) is enabled which signals to your cerebral cortex to PAY ATTENTION.
This in turn enables parts of the brain involved with thinking, language and working memory—the system for
temporarily storing and managing information.

Other than that you will need the ‘just good enough’ accessories to the skill or
subject you’re trying to learn.
Golf? – Cheap set of a driver and putter.
Basketball? – Cheap ball and hoop.

Don’t waste money and more importantly your time over researching this. Every minute you spend researching could be spend doing the
activity and improving at it.
Remember the 80/20 principle here.
Additionally if you are 80% sure you’ve made the right choice, just run with it. Your brain will make
up the other 20% confidence in your decision after the fact (it doesn’t like being wrong when you’re
invested into something).
