Preparing Your Computer
PHASE 1
In This Section You Will:•Install the Dynamic DNS Update Client (DUC) from No-IP•Create a No-IP account•Register for a free hostname and domain•Enable RDP on your PC
This will automatically update the No-IP DNS server every time your IP address changes.
Go to www.no-ip.com/downloads.php
Select Your OS and Download and Run the DUC Installation(The installation is simple, just accept default settings. This tutorial will show
the Windows installation and configuration)
After installation is complete, launch DUC
Click the link to create a new account
After your account has been created, activate it through the confirmation email they send you
Return to the DUC login window and log in
Click link to add a host
Log in to your account, then
Click Add a Host
Create a Hostname and select a free domain (your IP Address will already be entered) then click Create Host
Return to the Select Group/Hosts windows and your newly created Hostname should appear in the list. This hostname now will update every time your IP changes
Finally, you will need to enable Remote Desktop on your PC
Remote Desktop can be enabled from System Properties. The easiest way to access System Properties is to right click Computer (My Computer in XP and previous versions) in the Start Menu and select Properties. Once Remote Desktop has been enabled, select your local user
account or create a new user for remote access permissions
XP: Select the Remote tab and check the “Allow users to connect remotely” box
Vista and 7: Select Remote tab and select “Allow from any version” button
Phase 2Configuring your iPhone, or iPad
There are several RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) applications in the Apple App Store, each with varying options (such as right click ability, sound streamin, and
several others) and price. This tutorial will cover Remote Desktop Lite by MochaSoft (a free application)
